Genesis 6

When human beings began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them,

เมื่อมนุษย์เริ่มทวีจำนวนขึ้นบนโลกและให้กำเนิดบุตรสาว

the sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose.

บรรดาบุตรชายของพระเจ้าเห็นว่าบรรดาบุตรสาวของมนุษย์สวยงามก็เลือกเอามาเป็นภรรยาตามใจชอบ

Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not contend with^[a] humans forever, for they are mortal^[b]; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.”

แล้วองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสว่า “จิตวิญญาณของเราจะไม่คงอยู่กับมนุษย์ตลอดไป เพราะเขาเป็นเพียงมนุษย์ที่ต้องตาย^[a] เขาจะมีอายุขัย 120 ปี”

The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.

ในสมัยนั้นและสืบต่อมาภายหลัง มีคนเนฟิลอาศัยอยู่ในโลก คือสมัยที่บุตรชายของพระเจ้าไปอยู่กินกับบุตรสาวของมนุษย์และมีลูกหลานกับเขา คนเหล่านี้เป็นคนใหญ่คนโตที่มีชื่อเสียงในยุคโบราณ

The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.

องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงเห็นว่าความชั่วร้ายของมนุษย์ในโลกทวีมากยิ่งขึ้น และความคิดจิตใจของเขาก็โน้มเอียงไปในทางชั่วอยู่เสมอ

The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.

องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าจึงทรงเสียพระทัยยิ่งนักที่ได้ทรงสร้างมนุษย์ขึ้นมาในโลก และพระองค์ทรงปวดร้าวพระทัย

So the Lord said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.”

ดังนั้นองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าจึงตรัสว่า “เราจะกวาดล้างมนุษยชาติที่เราได้สร้างขึ้นออกจากผืนแผ่นดิน ทั้งมนุษย์และสัตว์ทั้งปวง สัตว์ที่เลื้อยคลาน และนกในอากาศ เพราะเราเสียใจที่ได้สร้างพวกนี้ขึ้นมา”

But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.

Noah and the Flood

แต่โนอาห์เป็นที่โปรดปรานในสายพระเนตรขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า

This is the account of Noah and his family.

Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.

นี่คือเรื่องราวเชื้อสายของโนอาห์

โนอาห์เป็นคนชอบธรรม เป็นคนดีพร้อมเมื่อเทียบกับคนในยุคของเขาและดำเนินชีวิตไปกับพระเจ้า

Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth.

โนอาห์มีบุตรชายสามคนคือ เชม ฮาม และยาเฟท

Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence.

ในขณะนั้นโลกเสื่อมทรามในสายพระเนตรของพระเจ้าและเต็มไปด้วยความโหดร้ายทารุณ

God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways.

พระเจ้าทรงเห็นว่าโลกเสื่อมทรามมากเพราะสิ่งมีชีวิตทั้งปวงล้วนดำเนินชีวิตอย่างเสื่อมทราม

So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.

พระเจ้าจึงตรัสกับโนอาห์ว่า “เรากำลังจะนำจุดจบมาถึงคนทั้งปวง เพราะสิ่งมีชีวิตทั้งปวงทำให้โลกเต็มไปด้วยความโหดร้ายทารุณ เราจะทำลายสิ่งเหล่านี้และโลกอย่างแน่นอน

So make yourself an ark of cypress^[c] wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out.

ดังนั้นจงต่อเรือขึ้นลำหนึ่งด้วยไม้ไซเปรส และกั้นเป็นห้องๆ แล้วยาด้วยชันตลอดทั้งนอกและใน

This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high.^[d]

เรือนี้ยาว 300 ศอก กว้าง 50 ศอก และสูง 30 ศอก

Make a roof for it, leaving below the roof an opening one cubit^[e] high all around.^[f] Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks.

จงทำหลังคาคลุมและระหว่างหลังคากับตัวเรือให้เว้นช่องสูง 1 ศอก^[b]โดยรอบ จงทำประตูบานหนึ่งไว้ด้านข้างของเรือ และต่อเรือเป็นชั้นล่าง ชั้นกลาง ชั้นบน

I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish.

เรากำลังจะให้น้ำท่วมโลกเพื่อทำลายสิ่งมีชีวิตทั้งมวลภายใต้ฟ้าสวรรค์ คือทุกสิ่งที่มีลมหายใจแห่งชีวิต ทุกสิ่งบนแผ่นดินโลกจะพินาศสิ้น

But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you.

แต่เราจะทำพันธสัญญาอันมั่นคงกับเจ้า เจ้าจะเข้าไปในเรือ คือทั้งตัวเจ้า ภรรยา บุตรชาย และบุตรสะใภ้ของเจ้า

You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you.

จงนำสัตว์ทุกชนิดมาเป็นคู่ๆ ทั้งตัวผู้และตัวเมียเข้ามาในเรือเพื่อรักษาชีวิตของมันให้รอดด้วยกันกับเจ้า

Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive.

นกทุกชนิด สัตว์ทุกชนิด สัตว์ที่เลื้อยคลานทุกชนิดจะมาหาเจ้าอย่างละคู่เพื่อรักษาชีวิตของพวกมันไว้

You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them.”

จงสะสมเสบียงทุกอย่างเพื่อเก็บไว้เป็นอาหารสำหรับเจ้าและสัตว์เหล่านั้น”

Noah did everything just as God commanded him.

โนอาห์ก็ทำทุกสิ่งตามที่พระเจ้าทรงบัญชา
