Genesis 4

Adam^[a] made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain.^[b] She said, “With the help of the Lord I have brought forth^[c] a man.”

อาดัม^[a]ได้ร่วมหลับนอนกับเอวา นางก็ตั้งครรภ์และคลอดบุตรชายชื่อคาอิน^[b] นางกล่าวว่า “ฉันได้ลูกชายคนนี้มาโดยความช่วยเหลือขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า”

Later she gave birth to his brother Abel.

Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil.

ภายหลังนางให้กำเนิดน้องชายของเขาคือ อาแบล

อาแบลเลี้ยงสัตว์ ส่วนคาอินทำไร่ไถนา

In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord.

เมื่อถึงฤดูเก็บเกี่ยว คาอินนำพืชผลจากไร่นามาถวายองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า

And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering,

ส่วนอาแบลนำไขมันของลูกสัตว์หัวปีที่ดีที่สุดในฝูงสัตว์ของเขามาถวายแด่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงโปรดปรานอาแบลและเครื่องถวายของเขา

but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.

แต่ไม่ได้ทรงโปรดปรานคาอินและเครื่องถวายของเขา คาอินจึงโกรธนักและชักสีหน้า

Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast?

แล้วองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสกับคาอินว่า “เจ้าโกรธทำไม? เจ้าชักสีหน้าทำไม?

If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”

หากเจ้าทำสิ่งที่ถูกที่ควร เจ้าก็จะเป็นที่ยอมรับไม่ใช่หรือ? แต่หากเจ้าไม่ทำสิ่งที่ถูกต้อง บาปก็หมอบอยู่ที่ประตูคอยเล่นงานเจ้า แต่เจ้าจะต้องชนะบาปให้ได้”

Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.”^[d] While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.

ฝ่ายคาอินชวนอาแบลน้องชายของเขาว่า “เราไปที่ทุ่งนากันเถอะ”^[c] ขณะอยู่ด้วยกันที่นั่น คาอินก็ทำร้ายและฆ่าอาแบลน้องชายของเขา

Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?”

“I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสถามคาอินว่า “อาแบลน้องชายของเจ้าอยู่ที่ไหน?”

เขาตอบว่า “ข้าพระองค์ไม่ทราบ ข้าพระองค์เป็นผู้ดูแลน้องชายหรือ?”

The Lord said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.

องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสว่า “เจ้าทำอะไรลงไป! ฟังให้ดี โลหิตของน้องชายเจ้าร้องขึ้นจากแผ่นดินมาถึงเรา

Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.

บัดนี้เจ้าถูกสาปแช่งและขับออกจากแผ่นดินซึ่งรองรับโลหิตของน้องชายของเจ้าเพราะน้ำมือของเจ้า

When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.”

เมื่อเจ้าไถพรวนดิน มันจะไม่ให้ผลผลิตแก่เจ้าอีกต่อไป เจ้าจะเป็นคนร่อนเร่พเนจรไปในโลก”

Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is more than I can bear.

คาอินทูลองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าว่า “โทษทัณฑ์นี้ใหญ่หลวงเกินกว่าข้าพระองค์จะรับได้

Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”

ในวันนี้พระองค์ทรงขับไล่ข้าพระองค์ไปจากแผ่นดินนี้ และทรงปิดกั้นข้าพระองค์จากพระพักตร์ของพระองค์ ข้าพระองค์จะเป็นคนร่อนเร่พเนจรไปในโลก ใครพบเห็นก็จะฆ่าข้าพระองค์”

But the Lord said to him, “Not so^[e]; anyone who kills Cain will suffer vengeance seven times over.” Then the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him.

แต่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสกับเขาว่า “ไม่ใช่เช่นนั้น ถ้าผู้ใดฆ่าคาอิน จะถูกเอาคืนเจ็ดเท่า” แล้วองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงทำเครื่องหมายไว้ที่ตัวคาอินเพื่อไม่ให้ผู้ที่พบเข้าฆ่าเขา

So Cain went out from the Lord’s presence and lived in the land of Nod,^[f] east of Eden.

ดังนั้นคาอินจึงออกไปจากเบื้องหน้าองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าและตั้งถิ่นฐานอยู่ในดินแดนโนด^[d]ทางทิศตะวันออกของเอเดน

Cain made love to his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. Cain was then building a city, and he named it after his son Enoch.

คาอินร่วมหลับนอนกับภรรยา นางก็ตั้งครรภ์และให้กำเนิดเอโนค ขณะนั้นคาอินกำลังสร้างเมือง เขาจึงตั้งชื่อเมืองนั้นว่าเอโนคตามชื่อบุตรชายของตน

To Enoch was born Irad, and Irad was the father of Mehujael, and Mehujael was the father of Methushael, and Methushael was the father of Lamech.

เอโนคมีบุตรชายชื่ออิราด และอิราดเป็นบิดาของเมหุยาเอล เมหุยาเอลเป็นบิดาของเมธูชาเอล และเมธูชาเอลเป็นบิดาของลาเมค

Lamech married two women, one named Adah and the other Zillah.

ลาเมคมีภรรยาสองคน คนหนึ่งชื่ออาดาห์ อีกคนหนึ่งชื่อศิลลาห์

Adah gave birth to Jabal; he was the father of those who live in tents and raise livestock.

อาดาห์มีบุตรชายชื่อยาบาล ซึ่งเป็นบิดาของคนเลี้ยงสัตว์และอาศัยในเต็นท์

His brother’s name was Jubal; he was the father of all who play stringed instruments and pipes.

ยาบาลมีน้องชายชื่อยูบาล ซึ่งเป็นบิดาของคนเล่นพิณและขลุ่ย

Zillah also had a son, Tubal-Cain, who forged all kinds of tools out of^[g] bronze and iron. Tubal-Cain’s sister was Naamah.

ส่วนศิลลาห์ก็มีบุตรชายคนหนึ่งด้วย ชื่อทูบัลคาอิน เขาทำเครื่องมือเครื่องใช้จาก^[e]ทองสัมฤทธิ์และเหล็ก ทูบัลคาอินมีน้องสาวชื่อนาอามาห์

Lamech said to his wives,

Adam made love to his wife again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth,^[h] saying, “God has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him.”

อาดัมร่วมหลับนอนกับภรรยาของเขาอีก และนางให้กำเนิดบุตรชายอีกคนหนึ่ง จึงตั้งชื่อเขาว่าเสท^[f] นางกล่าวว่า “พระเจ้าประทานลูกชายอีกคนหนึ่งแทนอาแบลเพราะคาอินได้ฆ่าเขา”

Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh.

At that time people began to call on^[i] the name of the Lord.
