Genesis 19

The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground.

ทูตสวรรค์ทั้งสองมาถึงเมืองโสโดมตอนพลบค่ำ และโลทนั่งอยู่ที่ประตูเมือง เมื่อโลทเห็นทูตนั้นจึงลุกขึ้นไปต้อนรับ ก้มคำนับจนหน้าจดพื้น

“My lords,” he said, “please turn aside to your servant’s house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning.”

“No,” they answered, “we will spend the night in the square.”

เขากล่าวว่า “ท่านเจ้าข้า เชิญแวะบ้านของผู้รับใช้ของท่าน ท่านจะได้ล้างเท้าและพักสักคืนหนึ่ง แล้วพรุ่งนี้เช้าจึงค่อยเดินทางต่อไป”

ชายทั้งสองตอบว่า “อย่าเลย เราจะค้างที่ลานเมือง”

But he insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate.

แต่โลทรบเร้าหนักเข้าจนในที่สุดทูตทั้งสองจึงได้ไปบ้านพร้อมเขา เขาได้จัดเตรียมอาหารสำหรับทั้งสองโดยปิ้งขนมปังไม่ใส่เชื้อ และพวกเขาก็รับประทาน

Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house.

They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.”

Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him

and said, “No, my friends. Don’t do this wicked thing.

“อย่าเลยพี่น้อง อย่าทำสิ่งชั่วช้าเช่นนี้เลย

Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don’t do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof.”

นี่แน่ะ เรามีลูกสาวสองคน ยังไม่เคยหลับนอนกับผู้ชายเลย เราจะยกให้ท่านทำอะไรก็ได้ตามใจชอบ แต่อย่าทำอะไรกับชายเหล่านี้เลย เพราะเขาได้มาพักอยู่ใต้ชายคาของเรา ใต้การคุ้มครองของเรา”

“Get out of our way,” they replied. “This fellow came here as a foreigner, and now he wants to play the judge! We’ll treat you worse than them.” They kept bringing pressure on Lot and moved forward to break down the door.

พวกนั้นเอ็ดตะโรว่า “ถอยไปให้พ้น เจ้าหมอนี่มาอยู่ในฐานะคนต่างด้าวแล้วยังจะมาตั้งตัวเป็นตุลาการ! เราจะจัดการกับเจ้าให้ยิ่งกว่าสองคนนั้นเสียอีก” แล้วพวกเขาก็กดดันโลทมากขึ้น และรุกเข้ามาเพื่อจะพังประตู

But the men inside reached out and pulled Lot back into the house and shut the door.

Then they struck the men who were at the door of the house, young and old, with blindness so that they could not find the door.

The two men said to Lot, “Do you have anyone else here—sons-in-law, sons or daughters, or anyone else in the city who belongs to you? Get them out of here,

ชายทั้งสองกล่าวกับโลทว่า “ท่านมีญาติพี่น้องอื่นอีกบ้างหรือไม่ในเมืองนี้ ไม่ว่าลูกเขย ลูกชาย ลูกสาว หรือคนของท่านที่อยู่ในเมืองนี้? จงพาพวกเขาออกไปจากที่นี่

because we are going to destroy this place. The outcry to the Lord against its people is so great that he has sent us to destroy it.”

เพราะเราจะทำลายเมืองนี้ เสียงที่ชาวเมืองนี้ฟ้องร้องต่อองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าดังจนพระองค์ทรงส่งเรามาทำลายเมืองนี้”

So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry^[a] his daughters. He said, “Hurry and get out of this place, because the Lord is about to destroy the city!” But his sons-in-law thought he was joking.

โลทจึงไปบอกบรรดาลูกเขยซึ่งหมั้นหมาย^[a]กับลูกสาวของเขาว่า “เร็วเข้า รีบออกจากที่นี่เถิด เพราะองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้ากำลังจะทรงทำลายเมืองนี้!” แต่ลูกเขยคิดว่าเขาพูดเล่น

With the coming of dawn, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Hurry! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away when the city is punished.”

พอใกล้รุ่ง ทูตเหล่านั้นจึงเร่งรัดโลทว่า “เร็วเข้า! จงพาภรรยาและลูกสาวทั้งสองของเจ้าออกไปจากที่นี่ มิฉะนั้นเมื่อเมืองนี้ถูกลงโทษ เจ้าจะถูกกวาดล้างไปด้วย”

When he hesitated, the men grasped his hand and the hands of his wife and of his two daughters and led them safely out of the city, for the Lord was merciful to them.

เมื่อโลทยังรีรออยู่ ทูตเหล่านั้นจึงคว้ามือของเขา ทั้งภรรยาและลูกสาวทั้งสอง แล้วพาออกมานอกเมืองโดยปลอดภัย เพราะองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงเมตตาพวกเขา

As soon as they had brought them out, one of them said, “Flee for your lives! Don’t look back, and don’t stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!”

เมื่อออกมาแล้ว ทูตองค์หนึ่งจึงพูดว่า^[b] “จงหนีเอาชีวิตรอดเถิด! อย่าหันกลับมามอง อย่าหยุดอยู่ในที่ราบนี้ จงหนีไปที่ภูเขา มิฉะนั้นเจ้าจะถูกกวาดล้างไปด้วย!”

But Lot said to them, “No, my lords,^[b] please!

แต่โลทวิงวอนว่า “อย่าเลย นายข้า^[c] ได้โปรดเถิด!

Your^[c] servant has found favor in your^[d] eyes, and you^[e] have shown great kindness to me in sparing my life. But I can’t flee to the mountains; this disaster will overtake me, and I’ll die.

ท่านได้กรุณาผู้รับใช้ของท่าน ท่านได้สำแดงความเมตตาอย่างใหญ่หลวงต่อข้าพเจ้าโดยไว้ชีวิตข้าพเจ้า แต่ข้าพเจ้าไม่สามารถหนีไปถึงภูเขาก่อนที่หายนะนี้จะมาถึงข้าพเจ้า และข้าพเจ้าจะต้องตาย

Look, here is a town near enough to run to, and it is small. Let me flee to it—it is very small, isn’t it? Then my life will be spared.”

He said to him, “Very well, I will grant this request too; I will not overthrow the town you speak of.

ทูตนั้นตอบว่า “ก็ได้ เราจะทำตามที่เจ้าร้องขอ เราจะไม่ทำลายเมืองที่เจ้าพูดถึง

But flee there quickly, because I cannot do anything until you reach it.” (That is why the town was called Zoar.^[f])

แต่จงรีบหนีไปเพราะเราทำอะไรไม่ได้จนกว่าเจ้าจะไปถึงที่นั่น” (นี่คือเหตุที่เมืองนั้นได้ชื่อว่าโศอาร์^[d])

By the time Lot reached Zoar, the sun had risen over the land.

Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens.

แล้วองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงให้ไฟกำมะถันตกลงมาใส่เมืองโสโดมและโกโมราห์ ไฟนี้มาจากองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตกลงมาจากฟ้าสวรรค์

Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in the land.

ดังนั้นพระองค์ทรงทำลายเมืองเหล่านั้นและที่ราบลุ่มทั้งหมด รวมทั้งทุกชีวิตที่อาศัยอยู่ในเมืองเหล่านั้นและพืชพันธุ์ทั้งสิ้นด้วย

But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.

แต่ภรรยาของโลทเหลียวกลับไปดู นางจึงกลายเป็นเสาเกลือ

Early the next morning Abraham got up and returned to the place where he had stood before the Lord.

เช้าตรู่วันรุ่งขึ้น อับราฮัมลุกขึ้นและกลับไปยังสถานที่ซึ่งเขาเคยยืนอยู่ต่อหน้าองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า

He looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah, toward all the land of the plain, and he saw dense smoke rising from the land, like smoke from a furnace.

เขามองลงไปยังเมืองโสโดมและเมืองโกโมราห์และกวาดสายตาไปทั่วดินแดนในที่ราบ เขามองเห็นควันหนาทึบพลุ่งขึ้นจากดินแดนนั้นเหมือนควันที่ออกจากเตาหลอม

So when God destroyed the cities of the plain, he remembered Abraham, and he brought Lot out of the catastrophe that overthrew the cities where Lot had lived.

Lot and His Daughters

ดังนั้นเมื่อพระเจ้าทรงทำลายเมืองต่างๆ ในที่ราบนั้น พระองค์ทรงระลึกถึงอับราฮัมและทรงนำโลทออกมาจากภัยพิบัติซึ่งทำลายล้างเมืองต่างๆ ที่โลทได้เคยอาศัยอยู่

Lot and his two daughters left Zoar and settled in the mountains, for he was afraid to stay in Zoar. He and his two daughters lived in a cave.

โลทกับบุตรสาวทั้งสองของเขาออกจากเมืองโศอาร์ไปตั้งถิ่นฐานที่ภูเขาเพราะไม่กล้าอยู่ที่โศอาร์ พวกเขาไปอาศัยอยู่ในถ้ำ

One day the older daughter said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is no man around here to give us children—as is the custom all over the earth.

Let’s get our father to drink wine and then sleep with him and preserve our family line through our father.”

ให้เรามอมเหล้าพ่อแล้วหลับนอนกับท่าน เพื่อเราจะรักษาเชื้อสายของครอบครัวเราไว้ทางพ่อของเรา”

That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and slept with him. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.

คืนวันนั้นหญิงทั้งสองจึงมอมเหล้าองุ่นบิดา แล้วบุตรสาวคนโตก็เข้าไปหลับนอนกับบิดา โลทไม่รู้สึกตัวว่าลูกเข้ามานอนด้วยหรือลุกออกไปเมื่อใด

The next day the older daughter said to the younger, “Last night I slept with my father. Let’s get him to drink wine again tonight, and you go in and sleep with him so we can preserve our family line through our father.”

วันรุ่งขึ้นบุตรสาวคนโตก็พูดกับน้องสาวว่า “เมื่อคืนพี่นอนกับพ่อแล้ว คืนนี้เราจะมอมเหล้าท่านอีก และน้องจงเข้าไปนอนกับพ่อ เพื่อเราจะสามารถรักษาเชื้อสายของครอบครัวเราไว้ทางพ่อของเรา”

So they got their father to drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went in and slept with him. Again he was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.

คืนนั้นทั้งสองก็ทำให้บิดาเมามายอีก แล้วบุตรสาวคนเล็กก็เข้าไปนอนกับบิดา ครั้งนี้ก็เช่นกัน โลทไม่รู้สึกตัวเลยว่าลูกได้เข้ามานอนด้วยหรือลุกออกไปเมื่อใด

So both of Lot’s daughters became pregnant by their father.

The older daughter had a son, and she named him Moab^[g]; he is the father of the Moabites of today.

บุตรสาวคนโตมีบุตรชาย และนางตั้งชื่อเขาว่าโมอับ^[e] เขาเป็นบรรพบุรุษของชาวโมอับในปัจจุบัน

The younger daughter also had a son, and she named him Ben-Ammi^[h]; he is the father of the Ammonites^[i] of today.

บุตรสาวคนเล็กก็มีบุตรชายคนหนึ่งด้วย นางตั้งชื่อเขาว่าเบนอัมมี^[f] เขาเป็นบรรพบุรุษของชาวอัมโมน^[g]ในปัจจุบัน
