Genesis 12

The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.

So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran.

ดังนั้นอับรามจึงไปตามที่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงบัญชา โลทก็ไปด้วย อับรามออกจากเมืองฮารานเมื่ออายุ 75 ปี

He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Harran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there.

เขานำซารายผู้เป็นภรรยาและโลทผู้เป็นหลานชาย พร้อมด้วยทรัพย์สมบัติทั้งหมดและบริวารที่พวกเขาได้มาเมื่อยังอยู่ที่เมืองฮาราน ออกเดินทางมาจนถึงดินแดนคานาอัน

Abram traveled through the land as far as the site of the great tree of Moreh at Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were in the land.

อับรามเดินทางอยู่ในดินแดนนั้นไปไกลจนถึงสถานบูชาต้นไม้ใหญ่แห่งโมเรห์ในเมืองเชเคม ครั้งนั้นชาวคานาอันอาศัยอยู่ที่นั่น

The Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring^[c] I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงปรากฏแก่อับรามและตรัสว่า “เราจะมอบดินแดนนี้แก่เชื้อสาย^[a]ของเจ้า” ดังนั้นเขาจึงสร้างแท่นบูชาขึ้นที่นั่นถวายแด่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าผู้ทรงปรากฏแก่เขา

From there he went on toward the hills east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord.

Then Abram set out and continued toward the Negev.

Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a while because the famine was severe.

เวลานั้นเกิดการกันดารอาหารในดินแดนคานาอัน อับรามจึงอพยพลงไปอียิปต์และอาศัยอยู่ที่นั่นระยะหนึ่ง เพราะการกันดารอาหารรุนแรงมาก

As he was about to enter Egypt, he said to his wife Sarai, “I know what a beautiful woman you are.

ขณะที่กำลังจะเข้าเขตแดนอียิปต์ อับรามพูดกับซารายผู้เป็นภรรยาว่า “ฉันรู้ว่าเจ้าเป็นคนสวยมาก

When the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ Then they will kill me but will let you live.

เมื่อชาวอียิปต์เห็นเจ้า เขาจะพูดกันว่านี่คือ ‘ภรรยาของชายคนนี้’ แล้วพวกเขาจะฆ่าฉัน แต่จะไว้ชีวิตเจ้า

Say you are my sister, so that I will be treated well for your sake and my life will be spared because of you.”

ขอให้เจ้าบอกว่าเจ้าเป็นน้องสาวของฉัน เพื่อเขาจะปฏิบัติต่อฉันอย่างดีเพราะเห็นแก่เจ้า และเขาจะไว้ชีวิตฉันเพราะเจ้า”

When Abram came to Egypt, the Egyptians saw that Sarai was a very beautiful woman.

เมื่ออับรามมาถึงอียิปต์ ชาวอียิปต์ก็เห็นว่าซารายสวยมาก

And when Pharaoh’s officials saw her, they praised her to Pharaoh, and she was taken into his palace.

และเมื่อข้าราชสำนักของฟาโรห์เห็นนางก็ทูลยกย่องนางต่อฟาโรห์ นางจึงถูกพาตัวไปยังพระราชวัง

He treated Abram well for her sake, and Abram acquired sheep and cattle, male and female donkeys, male and female servants, and camels.

ฟาโรห์ปฏิบัติต่ออับรามอย่างดีเพราะเห็นแก่นาง และประทานแพะ แกะ วัว ลาตัวผู้และตัวเมีย อูฐ และข้าทาสชายหญิงแก่อับราม

But the Lord inflicted serious diseases on Pharaoh and his household because of Abram’s wife Sarai.

แต่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงบันดาลให้เกิดโรคร้ายแก่ฟาโรห์และราชวงศ์ เพราะเหตุนางซารายภรรยาของอับราม

So Pharaoh summoned Abram. “What have you done to me?” he said. “Why didn’t you tell me she was your wife?

ดังนั้นฟาโรห์จึงเรียกอับรามเข้าเฝ้าและตรัสว่า “ทำไมเจ้าทำกับเราอย่างนี้? ทำไมเจ้าไม่บอกเราว่านางเป็นภรรยาของเจ้า?

Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her to be my wife? Now then, here is your wife. Take her and go!”

ทำไมเจ้าจึงพูดว่า ‘นางเป็นน้องสาวของข้าพระบาท’? เราจึงนำนางมาเพื่อเป็นสนม นี่ไง ภรรยาของเจ้า จงรับนางคืนแล้วจงไปเสีย!”

Then Pharaoh gave orders about Abram to his men, and they sent him on his way, with his wife and everything he had.
