Genesis 13

So Abram went up from Egypt to the Negev, with his wife and everything he had, and Lot went with him.

อับรามจึงอพยพจากอียิปต์ขึ้นไปเนเกบพร้อมด้วยภรรยาและทุกสิ่งที่เขามี โลทก็ไปด้วย

Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold.

อับรามกลายเป็นคนร่ำรวยมาก มีทั้งฝูงสัตว์และเงินทองมากมาย

From the Negev he went from place to place until he came to Bethel, to the place between Bethel and Ai where his tent had been earlier

เขาเดินทางรอนแรมจากเนเกบต่อไปถึงเบธเอล จนมาถึงสถานบูชาระหว่างเมืองเบธเอลกับเมืองอัย ซึ่งเขาเคยตั้งเต็นท์

and where he had first built an altar. There Abram called on the name of the Lord.

และได้สร้างแท่นบูชาเป็นครั้งแรก อับรามนมัสการร้องออกพระนามพระยาห์เวห์ที่นั่น

Now Lot, who was moving about with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents.

ฝ่ายโลทซึ่งมากับอับรามก็มีฝูงแพะแกะ ฝูงวัว และเต็นท์ด้วย

But the land could not support them while they stayed together, for their possessions were so great that they were not able to stay together.

แต่ที่ดินนั้นไม่เพียงพอให้อับรามกับโลทอยู่ร่วมกัน เพราะต่างก็มีทรัพย์สินมากมาย

And quarreling arose between Abram’s herders and Lot’s. The Canaanites and Perizzites were also living in the land at that time.

คนเลี้ยงสัตว์ของอับรามกับคนเลี้ยงสัตว์ของโลทก็ทะเลาะกัน เวลานั้นชาวคานาอันและชาวเปริสซียังอาศัยอยู่ในดินแดนนั้นด้วย

So Abram said to Lot, “Let’s not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herders and mine, for we are close relatives.

อับรามจึงกล่าวกับโลทว่า “อย่าให้เรากับเจ้าหรือคนของเรากับคนของเจ้าทะเลาะกันเลย เพราะเราเป็นญาติพี่น้องกัน

Is not the whole land before you? Let’s part company. If you go to the left, I’ll go to the right; if you go to the right, I’ll go to the left.”

ที่ดินทั้งหมดอยู่ตรงหน้าเจ้าไม่ใช่หรือ? เราแยกทางกันเถอะ ถ้าเจ้าไปทางซ้าย เราก็จะไปทางขวา ถ้าเจ้าไปทางขวา เราก็จะไปทางซ้าย”

Lot looked around and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan toward Zoar was well watered, like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt. (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)

โลทเงยหน้าขึ้นมองดูรอบๆ และเห็นว่าที่ราบลุ่มแม่น้ำจอร์แดนทั้งหมดตามทิศที่จะไปยังเมืองโศอาร์นั้นมีน้ำท่าอุดมสมบูรณ์ดี ดั่งสวนขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าดั่งแผ่นดินอียิปต์ (ขณะนั้นองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้ายังไม่ได้ทรงทำลายเมืองโสโดมและเมืองโกโมราห์)

So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company:

โลทจึงเลือกเอาบริเวณที่ราบลุ่มแม่น้ำจอร์แดนทั้งหมดเป็นของตนและรอนแรมไปทางตะวันออก เขาทั้งสองจึงแยกทางกัน

Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom.

อับรามอาศัยอยู่ในดินแดนคานาอัน ส่วนโลทไปอาศัยอยู่ตามเมืองต่างๆ ในที่ราบจอร์แดน และตั้งเต็นท์ของเขาใกล้เมืองโสโดม

Now the people of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the Lord.

ชาวโสโดมนั้นชั่วร้ายและทำบาปมหันต์ต่อองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า

The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west.

เมื่อโลทแยกทางไปแล้ว องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสกับอับรามว่า “จงเงยหน้าขึ้นมองดูรอบๆ มองไปทางทิศเหนือและทิศใต้ ทิศตะวันออกและทิศตะวันตก

All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring^[a] forever.

เราจะมอบดินแดนทั้งหมดที่เจ้ามองเห็นให้แก่เจ้าและเชื้อสาย^[a]ของเจ้าตลอดไป

I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted.

เราจะให้เชื้อสายของเจ้ามีจำนวนมากมายนับไม่ถ้วนดุจผงธุลีบนแผ่นดินโลก ถ้าใครสามารถนับผงธุลีได้ก็จะสามารถนับเชื้อสายของเจ้าได้

Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.”

ไปเถิด เดินไปให้ตลอดความกว้างความยาวของดินแดนนี้ เพราะเราจะยกให้เจ้า”

So Abram went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he pitched his tents. There he built an altar to the Lord.

ดังนั้นอับรามจึงย้ายเต็นท์ไปอยู่ใกล้หมู่ต้นไม้ใหญ่ของมัมเรที่เมืองเฮโบรน และได้สร้างแท่นบูชาแด่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าที่นั่น
