Verse 1

This is the account of Shem, Ham and Japheth, Noah’s sons, who themselves had sons after the flood.

The Japhethites

Aceasta este genealogia^[a] fiilor lui Noe – Sem, Ham şi Iafet – şi aceştia au fost fiii care li s-au născut după potop.

Verse 2

The sons^[a] of Japheth:

Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshek and Tiras.

Verse 3

The sons of Gomer:

Ashkenaz, Riphath and Togarmah.

The sons of Javan:

Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittites and the Rodanites.^[b]

(From these the maritime peoples spread out into their territories by their clans within their nations, each with its own language.)

The Hamites

The sons of Ham:

Cush, Egypt, Put and Canaan.

Fiii lui Ham au fost: Cuş, Miţrayim^[d], Put şi Canaan.

Verse 7

The sons of Cush:

Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah and Sabteka.

The sons of Raamah:

Sheba and Dedan.

Verse 8

Cush was the father^[c] of Nimrod, who became a mighty warrior on the earth.

Lui Cuş^[e] i s-a născut Nimrod; acesta a ajuns un om puternic pe pământ.

Verse 9

He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; that is why it is said, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the Lord.”

El a fost un vânător puternic înaintea Domnului; de aceea se spune: „Ca Nimrod, vânător puternic înaintea Domnului.“

Verse 10

The first centers of his kingdom were Babylon, Uruk, Akkad and Kalneh, in^[d] Shinar.^[e]

Verse 11

From that land he went to Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir,^[f] Calah

and Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah—which is the great city.

Canaan was the father of

Sidon his firstborn,^[g] and of the Hittites,

Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites,

Verse 17

Hivites, Arkites, Sinites,

Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites.

Later the Canaanite clans scattered

and the borders of Canaan reached from Sidon toward Gerar as far as Gaza, and then toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboyim, as far as Lasha.

Verse 20

These are the sons of Ham by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations.

The Semites

Aceştia au fost urmaşii lui Ham, potrivit clanurilor lor, după limbile lor, în ţările şi în cadrul neamurilor lor.

Verse 21

Sons were also born to Shem, whose older brother was^[h] Japheth; Shem was the ancestor of all the sons of Eber.

I s-au născut fii şi lui Sem, fratele mai mare al lui Iafet^[i]; Sem a fost strămoşul tuturor fiilor lui Eber.

Verse 22

The sons of Shem:

Elam, Ashur, Arphaxad, Lud and Aram.

Fiii lui Sem au fost: Elam, Asur, Arpahşad, Lud şi Aram.

Verse 23

The sons of Aram:

Uz, Hul, Gether and Meshek.^[i]

Fiii lui Aram au fost: Uţ, Hul, Gheter şi Maş^[j].

Verse 24

Arphaxad was the father of^[j] Shelah,

and Shelah the father of Eber.

Lui Arpahşad i s-a născut Şelah, iar lui Şelah^[k] i s-a născut Eber.

Verse 25

Two sons were born to Eber:

One was named Peleg,^[k] because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan.

Lui Eber i s-au născut doi fii: numele unuia era Peleg^[l], pentru că în timpul vieţii lui a fost împărţit pământul, iar numele fratelui său era Ioktan.

Verse 26

Joktan was the father of

Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,

Verse 27

Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,

Hadoram, Uzal, Dikla,

Verse 28

Obal, Abimael, Sheba,

Verse 29

Ophir, Havilah and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan.

Ofir, Havila şi Iobab.

Toţi aceştia au fost fiii lui Ioktan.

Verse 30

The region where they lived stretched from Mesha toward Sephar, in the eastern hill country.

Regiunea în care locuiau se întindea de la Meşa spre Sefar, muntele de la răsărit.

Verse 31

These are the sons of Shem by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations.

Aceştia au fost urmaşii lui Sem, potrivit clanurilor lor, după limbile lor, în ţările şi în cadrul neamurilor lor.

Verse 32

These are the clans of Noah’s sons, according to their lines of descent, within their nations. From these the nations spread out over the earth after the flood.

Acestea au fost clanurile fiilor lui Noe, potrivit urmaşilor lor, în cadrul neamurilor lor; din ei s-au răspândit neamurile pe pământ, după potop.
