Judges 2

The angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bokim and said, “I brought you up out of Egypt and led you into the land I swore to give to your ancestors. I said, ‘I will never break my covenant with you,

Ангел Вечного^[a] пришёл из Гилгала^[b] в Бохим и сказал:

– Я вывел вас из Египта и привёл в землю, о которой клялся вашим предкам. Я сказал: «Я никогда не нарушу Своё священное соглашение с вами,

and you shall not make a covenant with the people of this land, but you shall break down their altars.’ Yet you have disobeyed me. Why have you done this?

а вы не заключайте соглашение с жителями этой земли, но сокрушите их жертвенники». Но вы не послушались Меня. Почему?

And I have also said, ‘I will not drive them out before you; they will become traps for you, and their gods will become snares to you.’”

Теперь Я говорю вам, что не стану прогонять их от вас, они будут вам врагами, а их боги будут для вас западнёй.

When the angel of the Lord had spoken these things to all the Israelites, the people wept aloud,

Когда Ангел Вечного сказал эти слова всем исраильтянам, народ громко заплакал,

and they called that place Bokim.^[a] There they offered sacrifices to the Lord.

Disobedience and Defeat

и они назвали то место Бохим («плачущие»). Там они совершили жертвоприношение Вечному.

Гнев Вечного на Исраил

After Joshua had dismissed the Israelites, they went to take possession of the land, each to their own inheritance.

После того как Иешуа отпустил народ, они пошли, чтобы завладеть землёй, каждый в свой надел.

The people served the Lord throughout the lifetime of Joshua and of the elders who outlived him and who had seen all the great things the Lord had done for Israel.

Народ служил Вечному во время жизни Иешуа и старейшин, переживших его, которые видели все великие дела, совершённые Вечным для Исраила.

Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died at the age of a hundred and ten.

Иешуа, сын Нуна, раб Вечного, умер в возрасте ста десяти лет.

And they buried him in the land of his inheritance, at Timnath Heres^[b] in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash.

Его похоронили в его наделе, в городе Тимнат-Серахе^[c], в нагорьях Ефраима, к северу от горы Гааш.

After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel.

Когда всё то поколение отошло к своим отцам и выросло другое поколение, которое не знало ни Вечного, ни того, что Он совершил для Исраила,

Then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord and served the Baals.

тогда исраильтяне стали творить зло в глазах Вечного и служить статуям Баала^[d].

They forsook the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of Egypt. They followed and worshiped various gods of the peoples around them. They aroused the Lord’s anger

Они оставили Вечного, Бога своих предков, Который вывел их из Египта. Они последовали за богами народов, которые были вокруг них, и стали поклоняться им. Они гневили Вечного,

because they forsook him and served Baal and the Ashtoreths.

потому что оставили Его и служили Баалу и Астарте^[e].

In his anger against Israel the Lord gave them into the hands of raiders who plundered them. He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, whom they were no longer able to resist.

Гнев Вечного вспыхнул на исраильтян, и Он отдал их в руки разбойников, которые стали грабить их. Он отдал их во власть врагов, окружавших их со всех сторон, и они уже не могли им противостоять.

Whenever Israel went out to fight, the hand of the Lord was against them to defeat them, just as he had sworn to them. They were in great distress.

Всякий раз, когда Исраил шёл воевать, рука Вечного была против него, и народ терпел поражение, как Вечный предупреждал и клялся. Они терпели великое бедствие.

Then the Lord raised up judges,^[c] who saved them out of the hands of these raiders.

Вечный ставил им судей, которые спасали их от рук грабителей.

Yet they would not listen to their judges but prostituted themselves to other gods and worshiped them. They quickly turned from the ways of their ancestors, who had been obedient to the Lord’s commands.

Но они не слушали и судей, а распутничали с другими богами и поклонялись им. Они быстро уклонились от пути, которым ходили их предки, – пути послушания повелениям Вечного, они не следовали их примеру.

Whenever the Lord raised up a judge for them, he was with the judge and saved them out of the hands of their enemies as long as the judge lived; for the Lord relented because of their groaning under those who oppressed and afflicted them.

Всякий раз, когда Вечный ставил над ними судью, Он Сам был с ним и берёг исраильтян от врагов, пока судья был жив, ведь Вечный жалел их, стонавших под гнётом мучителей.

But when the judge died, the people returned to ways even more corrupt than those of their ancestors, following other gods and serving and worshiping them. They refused to give up their evil practices and stubborn ways.

Но когда судья умирал, они принимались за старое и поступали ещё хуже, чем их отцы, следуя другим богам, служа и поклоняясь им. Они не хотели оставить свои злые дела и упрямство.

Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel and said, “Because this nation has violated the covenant I ordained for their ancestors and has not listened to me,

Поэтому Вечный сильно разгневался на Исраил и сказал:

– Раз этот народ нарушил священное соглашение, которое Я заключил с их предками, и не послушался Меня,

I will no longer drive out before them any of the nations Joshua left when he died.

Я больше не стану прогонять от них ни одного из народов, которые остались в этой стране после смерти Иешуа.

I will use them to test Israel and see whether they will keep the way of the Lord and walk in it as their ancestors did.”

Чтобы испытать Исраил – станут ли исраильтяне стараться ходить по пути Вечного, как делали их предки, –

The Lord had allowed those nations to remain; he did not drive them out at once by giving them into the hands of Joshua.

Вечный оставил эти народы, не прогнав их сразу и не отдав в руки Иешуа.
