Proverbs 14:3

In the mouth of the [arrogant] [a]fool [who rejects God] is a rod for his back,But the lips of the wise [when they speak with godly wisdom] will protect them.

In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

Frivolous talk provokes a derisive smile; wise speech evokes nothing but respect.
