Nehemiah 5:3

There were others who were saying, “We are mortgaging our fields, our vineyards, and our houses to buy grain because of the famine.”

Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth.

Others said, “We’re having to mortgage our fields and vineyards and homes to get enough grain to keep from starving.” 4-5 And others said, “We’re having to borrow money to pay the royal tax on our fields and vineyards. Look: We’re the same flesh and blood as our brothers here; our children are just as good as theirs. Yet here we are having to sell our children off as slaves—some of our daughters have already been sold—and we can’t do anything about it because our fields and vineyards are owned by somebody else.” 6-7 I got really angry when I heard their protest and complaints. After thinking it over, I called the nobles and officials on the carpet. I said, “Each one of you is gouging his brother.” 7-8 Then I called a big meeting to deal with them. I told them, “We did everything we could to buy back our Jewish brothers who had to sell themselves as slaves to foreigners. And now you’re selling these same brothers back into debt slavery! Does that mean that we have to buy them back again?”They said nothing. What could they say?

وَمِنْ قَائِلٍ: إِنَّا رَهَنَّا حُقُولَنَا وَكُرُومَنَا وَبُيُوتَنَا لِقَاءَ الْحِنْطَةِ لِنَدْفَعَ عَنَّا الْجُوعَ.

Andre sagde: „Vi har pantsat vores marker, vingårde og huse for at kunne købe korn under hungersnøden.”

D’autres déclaraient : Nous sommes obligés de donner nos champs, nos vignes et même nos maisons en gage pour nous procurer du blé lorsqu’il y a une famine.

May iban man sa ila nga nagsiling, “Ginprenda na lang namon ang amon mga uma, mga talamnan sang ubas, kag ang amon mga balay agod may makaon kami sa tion sang tiggulutom.”

또 어떤 사람들은 “우리는 이 흉년에 밭이나 포도원이나 집이라도 저당잡히고 곡식을 얻어야 할 형편이 되었다” 하였으며
