Luke 5:33

Then they said to Him, “The disciples of John [the Baptist] often practice fasting and offer prayers [of special petition], and so do the disciples of the Pharisees; but Yours eat and drink.”

And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink?

They asked him, “John’s disciples are well-known for keeping fasts and saying prayers. Also the Pharisees. But you seem to spend most of your time at parties. Why?” 34-35 Jesus said, “When you’re celebrating a wedding, you don’t skimp on the cake and wine. You feast. Later you may need to pull in your belt, but this isn’t the time. As long as the bride and groom are with you, you have a good time. When the groom is gone, the fasting can begin. No one throws cold water on a friendly bonfire. This is Kingdom Come! 36-39 “No one cuts up a fine silk scarf to patch old work clothes; you want fabrics that match. And you don’t put wine in old, cracked bottles; you get strong, clean bottles for your fresh vintage wine. And no one who has ever tasted fine aged wine prefers unaged wine.”

And they said to Him, “The disciples of John often fast and offer prayers, the disciples of the Pharisees also do [o]the same, but Yours eat and drink.”

Some of the people who were there said to Jesus, “John’s disciples often pray and go without eating. So do the disciples of the Pharisees. But yours go on eating and drinking.”

They said to him, “John’s disciples often fast and pray, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours go on eating and drinking.”

One day some people said to Jesus, “John the Baptist’s disciples fast and pray regularly, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees. Why are your disciples always eating and drinking?”

وَقَالُوا لَهُ: «إِنَّ تَلامِيذَ يُوحَنَّا يَصُومُونَ كَثِيراً وَيَرْفَعُونَ الطِّلْبَاتِ، وَكَذلِكَ يَفْعَلُ أَيْضاً تَلامِيذُ الْفَرِّيسِيِّينَ؛ وَأَمَّا تَلامِيذُكَ فَيَأْكُلُونَ وَيَشْرَبُونَ!»

Så var der nogle, der sagde: „Johannes Døbers disciple faster og beder ofte, og det gør farisæernes også. Hvorfor gør dine disciple det så ikke?”

Wieder einmal kamen einige Leute zu Jesus und stellten ihm eine Frage: »Die Jünger von Johannes dem Täufer fasten und beten regelmäßig, und die Jünger der Pharisäer halten es auch so. Warum aber essen und trinken deine Jünger, ohne sich um die Fastentage zu kümmern?«

הם המשיכו להתלונן ואמרו: "תלמידי יוחנן המטביל צמים לעיתים קרובות ומתפללים, וגם הפרושים נוהגים כך. מדוע אין תלמידיך צמים?"

May mga tawo didto nga nagsiling kay Jesus, “Ang mga sumulunod ni Juan nga manugbautiso kag ang mga sumulunod sang mga Pariseo masami nga nagapuasa kag nagapangamuyo, pero ang imo mga sumulunod sige lang ang kaon kag inom.”

I Farisei e i dottori della legge protestarono anche perché i discepoli di Gesù mangiavano e bevevano, anziché digiunare. Dicevano: «I discepoli di Giovanni Battista digiunano spesso e pregano, così fanno anche i nostri discepoli. Perché i tuoi discepoli, invece, mangiano e bevono?»

彼らも負けてはいません。今度は違った面から、詰め寄りました。「バプテスマのヨハネの弟子たちは、いつも断食して祈っている。パリサイ人の弟子たちも同様だ。なのに、あなたの弟子たちときたら、平気で飲み食いしている。そのわけを聞かせてもらいたい。」

그들이 예수님께 “요한의 제자들과 바리새파 사람들의 제자들은 자주 금식하며 기도하는데 당신의 제자들은 먹고 마시기만 하니 어찌된 일입니까?” 하고 물었다.

De religiøse lederne anklaget også Jesus for en annen sak. De sa: ”Disiplene til døperen Johannes faster og ber regelmessig, og det gjør også disiplene til fariseerne[j]. Men dine, de spiser og drikker og nyter livet i fulle drag!”

De sa till honom: ”Johannes lärjungar fastar ofta och ber, och det gör fariseernas också. Men dina, de äter och dricker!”
