Leviticus 21:10

‘But he who is the high priest among his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil has been poured and who has been consecrated to wear the [sacred] garments, shall not uncover his head nor tear his clothes [in mourning],

And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes;

‘The priest who is the highest among his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil has been poured and [d]who has been consecrated to wear the garments, shall not [e]uncover his head nor tear his clothes;

“ ‘The high priest is the one among his brothers whose head has been anointed with olive oil. He has been appointed to wear the priest’s clothes. When someone dies, the high priest must not let his own hair hang loose. He must not tear his clothes to show how sad he is.

“‘The high priest, the one among his brothers who has had the anointing oil poured on his head and who has been ordained to wear the priestly garments, must not let his hair become unkempt[b] or tear his clothes.

“The high priest has the highest rank of all the priests. The anointing oil has been poured on his head, and he has been ordained to wear the priestly garments. He must never leave his hair uncombed[a] or tear his clothing.

وَالْكَاهِنُ الأَعْظَمُ بَيْنَ إِخْوَتِهِ، الَّذِي سُكِبَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ دُهْنُ الْمَسْحَةِ، وَتَكَرَّسَ لِيَرْتَدِيَ الثِّيَابَ الْمُقَدَّسَةَ، لَا يَكْشِفُ عَنْ رَأْسِهِ وَلا يَشُقُّ ثِيَابَهُ حِدَاداً عَلَى مَيْتٍ.

Ypperstepræsten, der er salvet og indviet til en særlig tjeneste, og som har fået lov at bære den ypperstepræstelige dragt, må ikke tage sin hovedbeklædning af og lade håret hænge løst eller rive flænger i sin dragt.[b]
