Joshua 15:13

Now to Caleb the son of Jephunneh Joshua gave a portion among the sons of Judah, as the Lord commanded him, namely, Kiriath-arba, Arba being the father of Anak (that is, Hebron).

And unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the Lord to Joshua, even the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron.

Joshua gave Caleb son of Jephunneh a section among the people of Judah, according to God’s command. He gave him Kiriath Arba, that is, Hebron. Arba was the ancestor of Anak. 14-15 Caleb drove out three Anakim from Hebron: Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, all descendants of Anak. He marched up from there against the people of Debir. Joshua gave a part of Judah’s share of land to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh. That was according to the Lord’s command to Joshua. The share Caleb received was the city of Hebron. It was also called Kiriath Arba. Anak came from the family line of Arba.

وَوَهَبَ يَشُوعُ بِمُقْتَضَى أَمْرِ الرَّبِّ كَالَبَ بْنَ يَفُنَّةَ مِلْكاً قَرْيَةَ أَرْبَعَ أَبِي عَنَاقَ وَهِيَ حَبْرُونُ الْوَاقِعَةُ فِي وَسَطِ أَبْنَاءِ يَهُوذَا.
