Joshua 13:3

from the Shihor [waterway] which is east of Egypt [at the southern end of Canaan], northward to the border of Ekron (all of it regarded as Canaanite); the five rulers of the Philistines: the Gazite, Ashdodite, the Ashkelonite, the Gittite, the Ekronite; and the [c]Avvite

From Sihor, which is before Egypt, even unto the borders of Ekron northward, which is counted to the Canaanite: five lords of the Philistines; the Gazathites, and the Ashdothites, the Eshkalonites, the Gittites, and the Ekronites; also the Avites:

from the Shihor which is [a]east of Egypt, even as far as the border of Ekron to the north (it is counted as Canaanite); the five lords of the Philistines: the Gazite, the Ashdodite, the Ashkelonite, the Gittite, the Ekronite; and the Avvite

Those areas begin at the Shihor River in the eastern part of Egypt. They go to the territory of Ekron in the north. All that land is considered Canaanite even though it is controlled by five Philistine rulers. They rule over Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath and Ekron.The Avvites

الْمُمْتَدَّةِ مِنْ نَهْرِ شِيحُورَ شَرْقِيَّ مِصْرَ حَتَّى إِقْلِيمِ عَقْرُونَ شِمَالاً، وَجَمِيعُهَا تُعْتَبَرُ مِلْكاً لِلْكَنْعَانِيِّينَ. وَهِيَ مَنَاطِقُ لِلْحُكَّامِ الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ الْخَمْسَةِ الْمُقِيمِينَ فِي غَزَّةَ وَأَشْدُودَ وَأَشْقَلُونَ وَجَتَّ وَعَقْرُونَ وَالْعَوِيِّينَ،

I det sydlige Kana’an drejer det sig om området, der går fra den mudrede[a] wadi på grænsen til Egypten, op til Ekron mod nord med de fem filisterbyer: Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkalon, Gat og Ekron (der hvor avvitterne engang boede).

c’est-à-dire la région qui s’étend depuis le torrent du Shihor[c] qui coule en face de l’Egypte jusqu’au territoire d’Eqrôn au nord, toute cette contrée doit être considérée comme cananéenne.
