Isaiah 58:5

“Is a fast such as this what I have chosen, a day for a man to humble himself [with sorrow in his soul]?Is it only to bow down his head like a reedAnd to make sackcloth and ashes as a bed [pretending to have a repentant heart]?Do you call this a fast and a day pleasing to the Lord?

Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the Lord?

“Is it a fast like this which I choose, a day for a man to humble himself?Is it for bowing [b]one’s head like a reedAnd for spreading out sackcloth and ashes as a bed?Will you call this a fast, even an acceptable day to the Lord?

Do you think that is the way I want you to fast? Is it only a time for people to make themselves suffer?Is it only for people to bow their heads like tall grass bent by the wind? Is it only for people to lie down in ashes and clothes of mourning?Is that what you call a fast? Do you think I can accept that?

Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day for people to humble themselves?Is it only for bowing one’s head like a reed and for lying in sackcloth and ashes?Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the Lord?

You humble yourselves by going through the motions of penance,bowing your heads like reeds bending in the wind.You dress in burlap and cover yourselves with ashes.Is this what you call fasting? Do you really think this will please the Lord?

أَيَكُونُ الصَّوْمُ الَّذِي أَخْتَارُهُ فِي إِذْلالِ الْمَرْءِ نَفْسَهُ يَوْماً، أَوْ فِي إِحْنَاءِ رَأْسِهِ كَالْقَصَبَةِ، أَوِ افْتِرَاشِ الْمِسْحِ وَالرَّمَادِ؟ أَتَدْعُو هَذَا صَوْماً مَقْبُولاً لَدَى الرَّبِّ؟

Tror I virkelig, det er den form for faste, jeg er ude efter: at I sulter jer selv, hænger med hovedet, klæder jer i sæk og dækker jer med aske? Er det, hvad I forstår ved faste? Tror I, jeg kan acceptere den slags?

Denkt ihr, mir einen Gefallen zu tun, wenn ihr bloß auf Essen und Trinken verzichtet, den Kopf hängen lasst und euch in Trauergewändern in die Asche setzt? Nennt ihr so etwas ›Fasten‹? Ist das ein Tag, an dem ich, der Herr, Freude habe?

¿Acaso el ayuno que he escogido es solo un día para que el hombre se mortifique?¿Y solo para que incline la cabeza como un junco, haga duelo y se cubra de ceniza?¿A eso llamáis vosotros día de ayuno y día aceptable para el Señor?

Est-ce cela le jeûne |auquel je prends plaisir ?Est-ce cela un jour |où l’homme s’humilie ?S’agit-il de courber |la tête comme un joncet de vous étaler |sur le sac et la cendre ?Pouvez-vous appeler |cela un jour de jeûneque l’Eternel agrée ?

Kon magpuasa kamo, nagapenetensya kamo. Nagaduko ang inyo mga ulo nga daw sa mga kugon, kag nagahigda kamo sa abo nga nagasuksok sang sako. Amo bala ina ang ginatawag ninyo nga puasa? Nagahunahuna bala kamo nga makapalipay ina sa akon?

そんな罪滅ぼしが何だ。風に揺られる葦のように頭を下げたり、荒布をまとって灰をかぶったりすることを、はたしてわたしが望んでいるだろうか。

너희는 금식할 때 자신을 괴롭히고 머리를 갈대처럼 숙이며 굵은 삼베와 재를 깔고 눕는다. 이것을 금식이라 할 수 있겠느냐? 너희는 이런 금식을 내가 기뻐할 것이라고 생각하느냐?

Is dit wat Ik wil? Dit soort inkeer, dit buigen als riet in de wind, dragen van rouwkleding en het uzelf bedekken met as? Noemt u dat vasten, een dag waaraan Ik welgevallen heb?

Será esse o jejum que escolhi, que apenas um dia o homem se humilhe, incline a cabeça como o junco e se deite sobre pano de saco e cinzas?É isso que vocês chamam jejum, um dia aceitável ao Senhor?

Alguma vez eu quero que vocês façam esse tipo de penitências e se inclinem até ao chão como juncos batidos pelo vento, ou que se vistam de saco e se cubram de cinza? É a isso que vocês chamam jejum e dia agradável ao Senhor?

Oare aşa arată postul care-Mi este plăcut – o zi în care omul să se smerească pe sine,să-şi plece capul ca o trestie şi să se culce în sac şi cenuşă?Aceasta numeşti tu post şi zi plăcută Domnului?

Skulle det här vara en sådan fasta som jag vill ha, en dag när man späker sig, böjer huvudet som ett strå och ligger i säck och aska? Är det vad du kallar för fasta, en dag som behagar Herren?

นี่หรือคือการถืออดอาหารที่เราเลือก? แค่เป็นวันที่ให้มนุษย์มาถ่อมลงแค่เป็นวันให้เขาก้มหัวลงเหมือนต้นอ้อและสวมผ้ากระสอบนอนลงในกองขี้เถ้าหรือ?นี่หรือที่เจ้าเรียกว่าการถืออดอาหาร?นี่หรือวันที่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงยอมรับ?

难道这是我要的禁食吗？难道刻苦己身、像芦苇一样垂着头、躺在麻布和炉灰上就是禁食吗？这就是你们所谓的禁食，所谓的蒙耶和华悦纳的日子吗？

这 样 禁 食 岂 是 我 所 拣 选 、 使 人 刻 苦 己 心 的 日 子 麽 ？ 岂 是 叫 人 垂 头 像 苇 子 ， 用 麻 布 和 炉 灰 铺 在 他 以 下 麽 ？ 你 这 可 称 为 禁 食 、 为 耶 和 华 所 悦 纳 的 日 子 麽 ？

難道這是我要的禁食嗎？難道刻苦己身、像蘆葦一樣垂著頭、躺在麻布和爐灰上就是禁食嗎？這就是你們所謂的禁食，所謂的蒙耶和華悅納的日子嗎？
