Daniel 1:3

And the [Babylonian] king told Ashpenaz, the chief of his [d]officials, to bring in some of the sons of Israel, including some from the royal family and from the nobles,

The king gave Ashpenaz an order. Ashpenaz was the chief of Nebuchadnezzar’s court officials. The king told him to bring him some of the Israelites. The king wanted them to serve him in his court. He wanted nobles and men from the royal family.

Dann befahl er seinem obersten Hofbeamten Aschpenas: »Wähle einige junge Israeliten aus dem judäischen Königshaus und den vornehmen Familien aus!
