Amos 6:8

The Lord [a]God has sworn [an oath] by Himself—the Lord God of hosts, says:“I loathe and reject the [self-centered] arrogance of Jacob (Israel),And I hate his palaces and citadels;Therefore, I shall hand over the [idolatrous] city [of Samaria] with all that it contains [to the Assyrian invaders].”

The Lord God hath sworn by himself, saith the Lord the God of hosts, I abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein.

God, the Master, has sworn, and solemnly stands by his Word. The God-of-the-Angel-Armies speaks: “I hate the arrogance of Jacob. I have nothing but contempt for his forts.I’m about to hand over the city and everyone in it.” 9-10 Ten men are in a house, all dead. A relative comes and gets the bodies to prepare them for a decent burial. He discovers a survivor huddled in a closet and asks, “Are there any more?” The answer: “Not a soul. But hush! God must not be mentioned in this desecrated place.”

The Lord and King has made a promise in his own name. He is the Lord God who rules over all. He announces,“I hate the pride of Jacob’s people. I can’t stand their forts.I will hand the city of Samaria and everything in it over to their enemies.”

The Sovereign Lord has sworn by himself—the Lord God Almighty declares:“I abhor the pride of Jacob and detest his fortresses;I will deliver up the city and everything in it.”

The Sovereign Lord has sworn by his own name, and this is what he, the Lord God of Heaven’s Armies, says: “I despise the arrogance of Israel,[c] and I hate their fortresses.I will give this city and everything in it to their enemies.”

وَيَقُولُ الرَّبُّ الْقَدِيرُ: قَدْ أَقْسَمْتُ بِذَاتِي، أَنْ أَمْقُتَ زَهْوَ يَعْقُوبَ، وَأُبْغِضَ قُصُورَهُ، فَأُسَلِّمُ الْمَدِينَةَ بِكُلِّ مَا فِيهَا.

Herren, den almægtige Gud, har svoret ved sig selv: „Jeg hader Israels hovmod og foragter deres paladser. Derfor overgiver jeg deres by med alle dens indbyggere i fjendens hånd.”

So spricht der Herr, der allmächtige Gott: »Ich hasse den Hochmut der Nachkommen von Jakob, ich verabscheue ihre prachtvollen Häuser! Darum liefere ich Samaria mit allen seinen Einwohnern den Feinden aus. Das schwöre ich, der Herr über alles, so wahr ich lebe!

De Oppermachtige Here, de God van de hemelse legers, heeft bij zijn eigen naam gezworen: ‘Ik walg van de trotse en valse glorie van Israël en haat haar prachtige huizen. Ik zal deze stad en alles wat zich erin bevindt, aan haar vijanden in handen geven.’

主 耶 和 华 万 军 之 神 指 着 自 己 起 誓 说 ， 我 憎 恶 雅 各 的 荣 华 ， 厌 弃 他 的 宫 殿 ； 因 此 我 必 将 城 和 其 中 所 有 的 都 交 付 敌 人 。

萬軍之上帝——主耶和華憑自己起誓：「我憎惡雅各的驕傲，厭棄他的城堡。我要把城和城中的一切都交給敵人。」
