2 Kings 17:9

The Israelites ascribed things to the Lord their God which were not true. They built for themselves high places [of worship] in all their towns, from [the lonely] lookout tower to the [populous] fortified city.

And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the Lord their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

The sons of Israel [d]did things secretly which were not right against the Lord their God. Moreover, they built for themselves high places in all their towns, from watchtower to fortified city.

The Israelites did things in secret against the Lord their God. What they did wasn’t right. They built high places for worship in all their towns. They built them at lookout towers. They also built them at cities that had high walls around them.

وَارْتَكَبَ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ فِي الْخَفَاءِ مَعَاصِيَ فِي حَقِّ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِهِمْ، وَشَيَّدُوا لأَنْفُسِهِمْ مُرْتَفَعَاتٍ فِي جَمِيعِ مُدُنِهِمْ مِنْ بُرْجِ النَّوَاطِيرِ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ الْمُحَصَّنَةِ،

Israels folk trodsede deres Gud ved at gøre mange ting, som var forkert i Herrens øjne. De indrettede offerhøje rundt omkring i landet i både små og store byer,

So taten die Israeliten vieles, was den Herrn beleidigte. Überall errichteten sie Opferstätten für ihre Götzen, beim abgelegensten Wachturm genauso wie in den befestigten Städten.

Les Israélites avaient commis en secret des actes inadmissibles offensant l’Eternel leur Dieu. Ils avaient édifié des hauts lieux dans toutes leurs localités, depuis les postes d’observation jusqu’aux villes fortifiées[f].
