Then the men who were designated by name rose up and took the captives, and from the spoil they clothed all those who were naked; they clothed them and gave them sandals, and fed them and gave them [something to] drink, anointed them [with oil, as was a host’s duty], and led all the feeble ones on donkeys, and they brought them to Jericho, the City of Palm Trees, to their brothers (fellow descendants of Israel, i.e. Jacob). Jericho was also known as the City of Palm Trees.

وَنَهَضَ بَعْضُ الرِّجَالِ الَّذِينَ تَمَّ تَعْيِينُهُمْ بِأَسْمَائِهِمْ وَأَخَذُوا الأَسْرَى وَوَزَّعُوا عَلَيْهِمْ مِنَ الْغَنِيمَةِ مَلابِسَ وَأَحْذِيَةً وَطَعَاماً وخَمْراً، وَعَالَجُوا جِرَاحَهُمْ بالدُّهُونِ وَأَرْكَبُوا الْمُعْيِينَ فِيهِمْ عَلَى حَمِيرٍ. وَأَعَادُوهُمْ إِلَى أَرِيحَا مَدِينَةِ النَّخْلِ حَيْثُ أَسْلَمُوهُمْ إِلَى أَهَالِيهِمْ، ثُمَّ رَجَعُوا إِلَى السَّامِرَةِ.

De vier bovengenoemde mannen deelden meteen buitgemaakte kleding uit aan de vrouwen en kinderen die het nodig hadden en gaven hun bovendien schoeisel, voedsel en drinken. De män som nämnts tog fångarna, klädde dem som var utan kläder med vad som fanns bland bytet, gav dem kläder och skor, lät dem äta och dricka och smorde dem med olja.
