and worthless (unprincipled, unethical) men gathered around him, useless and wicked men, who proved too strong for Rehoboam the son of Solomon when Rehoboam was young and timid, and could not assert himself against them.

And there are gathered unto him vain men, the children of Belial, and have strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand them.

فَالْتَفَّ حَوْلَهُ رِجَالٌ بَطَّالُونَ أَشْرَارٌ، وَثَارُوا عَلَى رَحُبْعَامَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ، فَلَمْ يَثْبُتْ رَحُبْعَامُ أَمَامَهُمْ لِحَدَاثَتِهِ وَقِلَّةِ خِبْرَتِهِ.
