Genesis 41

When two full years had passed, Pharaoh had a dream: He was standing by the Nile,

เวลาผ่านไปสองปีเต็ม คืนหนึ่งฟาโรห์ทรงฝันว่าพระองค์ทรงยืนอยู่ที่ริมฝั่งแม่น้ำไนล์

when out of the river there came up seven cows, sleek and fat, and they grazed among the reeds.

มีวัวอ้วนพีแข็งแรงเจ็ดตัวขึ้นมาจากแม่น้ำไนล์ กินหญ้าอยู่ริมฝั่ง

After them, seven other cows, ugly and gaunt, came up out of the Nile and stood beside those on the riverbank.

แล้วมีวัวอีกเจ็ดตัวขึ้นมาจากแม่น้ำไนล์ แต่พวกหลังนี้ตัวผอมแห้งจนน่าเกลียด พวกมันเดินมาหยุดยืนอยู่ข้างวัวอ้วนพีแข็งแรง

And the cows that were ugly and gaunt ate up the seven sleek, fat cows. Then Pharaoh woke up.

วัวผอมโซน่าเกลียดเหล่านั้นก็กินวัวอ้วนพีแข็งแรงทั้งเจ็ดตัว แล้วฟาโรห์ทรงตื่นจากบรรทม

He fell asleep again and had a second dream: Seven heads of grain, healthy and good, were growing on a single stalk.

พระองค์บรรทมหลับไปอีกและทรงฝันเป็นครั้งที่สอง คราวนี้ทรงเห็นข้าวต้นหนึ่งกำลังออกรวงเจ็ดรวงซึ่งมีเมล็ดเต่งงามดี

After them, seven other heads of grain sprouted—thin and scorched by the east wind.

หลังจากนั้นมีอีกเจ็ดรวงผลิออกมา แต่มีเมล็ดเหี่ยวแห้งเพราะลมตะวันออก

The thin heads of grain swallowed up the seven healthy, full heads. Then Pharaoh woke up; it had been a dream.

แล้วรวงข้าวที่เหี่ยวแห้งก็กลืนกินรวงข้าวที่เต่งงามเจ็ดรวงนั้นจนหมด แล้วฟาโรห์ตื่นจากบรรทมและทรงทราบว่าเป็นความฝัน

In the morning his mind was troubled, so he sent for all the magicians and wise men of Egypt. Pharaoh told them his dreams, but no one could interpret them for him.

เช้าวันรุ่งขึ้นฟาโรห์ทรงกังวลพระทัยนักจึงรับสั่งให้บรรดานักเล่นอาคมและปราชญ์ของอียิปต์มาเข้าเฝ้า พระองค์ทรงเล่าความฝันให้ฟัง แต่ไม่มีใครบอกได้ว่าความฝันพวกนั้นหมายถึงอะไร

Then the chief cupbearer said to Pharaoh, “Today I am reminded of my shortcomings.

แล้วหัวหน้าพนักงานเชิญจอกเสวยจึงกราบทูลว่า “วันนี้ข้าพระบาทระลึกถึงความผิดพลาดของตนได้แล้ว

Pharaoh was once angry with his servants, and he imprisoned me and the chief baker in the house of the captain of the guard.

ครั้งหนึ่งฟาโรห์กริ้วข้าพระบาท และทรงให้จำคุกข้าพระบาทพร้อมกับหัวหน้าพนักงานทำขนมปังไว้ในบ้านของผู้บัญชาการทหารรักษาพระองค์

Each of us had a dream the same night, and each dream had a meaning of its own.

คืนหนึ่งข้าพระบาททั้งสองต่างฝันไป และความฝันของแต่ละคนนั้นก็มีความหมายแตกต่างกัน

Now a young Hebrew was there with us, a servant of the captain of the guard. We told him our dreams, and he interpreted them for us, giving each man the interpretation of his dream.

ขณะนั้นชายหนุ่มฮีบรูคนหนึ่งซึ่งเป็นทาสรับใช้ของท่านผู้บัญชาการทหารรักษาพระองค์ได้ถูกจำคุกอยู่กับข้าพระบาททั้งสอง ข้าพระบาทจึงเล่าความฝันให้เขาฟัง เขาก็บอกความหมายของความฝันให้กับข้าพระบาททั้งสอง

And things turned out exactly as he interpreted them to us: I was restored to my position, and the other man was impaled.”

ทุกสิ่งก็เป็นไปตามที่เขาได้ทำนายให้กับข้าพระบาททุกประการ คือข้าพระบาทได้กลับเข้ามาประจำหน้าที่ดังเดิม ส่วนอีกคนหนึ่งก็ถูกเสียบประหาร”

So Pharaoh sent for Joseph, and he was quickly brought from the dungeon. When he had shaved and changed his clothes, he came before Pharaoh.

ฟาโรห์จึงรับสั่งให้นำโยเซฟมาเข้าเฝ้า เขาจึงถูกนำตัวออกจากคุกอย่างเร่งด่วน เมื่อโกนหนวดเคราและเปลี่ยนเสื้อผ้าเสร็จแล้วก็เข้าเฝ้าฟาโรห์

Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I had a dream, and no one can interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.”

ฟาโรห์ตรัสกับโยเซฟว่า “เราฝันไป และไม่มีใครบอกความหมายของความฝันได้ แต่เราได้ยินมาว่าเมื่อใครเล่าความฝันให้เจ้าฟัง เจ้าก็สามารถบอกความหมายของความฝันนั้นได้”

“I cannot do it,” Joseph replied to Pharaoh, “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.”

โยเซฟทูลฟาโรห์ว่า “ข้าพระบาททำไม่ได้ แต่พระเจ้าจะทรงแจ้งให้ฟาโรห์ทราบคำตอบตามที่ฟาโรห์ต้องการ”

Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “In my dream I was standing on the bank of the Nile,

ฟาโรห์จึงตรัสกับโยเซฟว่า “ในฝันเรายืนอยู่ริมฝั่งแม่น้ำไนล์

when out of the river there came up seven cows, fat and sleek, and they grazed among the reeds.

มีวัวอ้วนพีแข็งแรงเจ็ดตัวขึ้นมาจากแม่น้ำและกินหญ้าอยู่ริมฝั่ง

After them, seven other cows came up—scrawny and very ugly and lean. I had never seen such ugly cows in all the land of Egypt.

แล้วก็มีวัวอีกเจ็ดตัวขึ้นมาจากแม่น้ำ ตัวผอมแห้งน่าเกลียดมาก เราไม่เคยเห็นวัวตัวไหนน่าเกลียดขนาดนั้นมาก่อนเลยในแผ่นดินอียิปต์

The lean, ugly cows ate up the seven fat cows that came up first.

แล้ววัวผอมแห้งน่าเกลียดเหล่านั้นก็กินวัวอ้วนพีทั้งเจ็ดตัวที่ขึ้นมาก่อนจนหมด

But even after they ate them, no one could tell that they had done so; they looked just as ugly as before. Then I woke up.

แม้พวกมันจะกินวัวเหล่านั้นไปหมดแล้วก็ไม่มีใครรู้ได้ว่าพวกมันได้ทำเช่นนั้น เพราะพวกมันก็ยังผอมแห้งน่าเกลียดอยู่เหมือนเดิม แล้วเราก็ตื่น

“In my dream I saw seven heads of grain, full and good, growing on a single stalk.

“เราฝันไปอีกว่าเห็นต้นข้าวต้นหนึ่งออกรวงเจ็ดรวงซึ่งมีเมล็ดเต่งงามดี

After them, seven other heads sprouted—withered and thin and scorched by the east wind.

แล้วมีรวงข้าวอีกเจ็ดรวงงอกขึ้นมาซึ่งมีเมล็ดเหี่ยวแห้งเพราะลมตะวันออก

The thin heads of grain swallowed up the seven good heads. I told this to the magicians, but none of them could explain it to me.”

รวงข้าวที่เหี่ยวแห้งนั้นก็กลืนกินรวงข้าวที่เต่งงามทั้งเจ็ดรวงเสียหมด เราเล่าเรื่องนี้ให้บรรดานักเล่นอาคมฟัง แต่ไม่มีใครอธิบายให้เราเข้าใจได้”

Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dreams of Pharaoh are one and the same. God has revealed to Pharaoh what he is about to do.

โยเซฟทูลฟาโรห์ว่า “ความฝันทั้งสองนี้หมายความถึงสิ่งเดียวกัน พระเจ้าทรงเปิดเผยแก่ฟาโรห์ถึงสิ่งที่พระองค์จะทรงกระทำ

The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good heads of grain are seven years; it is one and the same dream.

วัวอ้วนพีเจ็ดตัวหมายถึงเจ็ดปี และรวงข้าวเต่งงามเจ็ดรวงก็หมายถึงเจ็ดปี ความฝันทั้งสองนี้หมายความถึงสิ่งเดียวกัน

The seven lean, ugly cows that came up afterward are seven years, and so are the seven worthless heads of grain scorched by the east wind: They are seven years of famine.

ส่วนวัวผอมน่าเกลียดเจ็ดตัวที่ขึ้นจากแม่น้ำมาภายหลังหมายถึงเจ็ดปี และรวงข้าวไร้ค่าเจ็ดรวงที่เหี่ยวแห้งไปเพราะลมตะวันออกนั้นก็หมายถึงเจ็ดปีเช่นกัน เป็นเจ็ดปีแห่งการกันดารอาหาร

“It is just as I said to Pharaoh: God has shown Pharaoh what he is about to do.

“อย่างที่ข้าพระบาทได้ทูลฟาโรห์ไว้แล้วว่า พระเจ้าได้ทรงสำแดงแก่ฟาโรห์ถึงสิ่งที่พระองค์จะทรงกระทำ

Seven years of great abundance are coming throughout the land of Egypt,

ตลอดเจ็ดปีต่อไปนี้จะเป็นช่วงอุดมสมบูรณ์ทั่วแผ่นดินอียิปต์

but seven years of famine will follow them. Then all the abundance in Egypt will be forgotten, and the famine will ravage the land.

แต่เจ็ดปีแห่งการกันดารอาหารจะตามมา แล้วประชาชนจะลืมความอุดมสมบูรณ์ทั้งสิ้นของประเทศอียิปต์ และการกันดารอาหารจะทำลายแผ่นดินนี้

The abundance in the land will not be remembered, because the famine that follows it will be so severe.

ความอุดมสมบูรณ์ของแผ่นดินถูกลบเลือนไปจากความทรงจำ เพราะการกันดารอาหารจะรุนแรงยิ่งนัก

The reason the dream was given to Pharaoh in two forms is that the matter has been firmly decided by God, and God will do it soon.

เหตุที่พระเจ้าทรงประทานความฝันถึงสองอย่างแก่ฟาโรห์นั้น เพราะว่าพระเจ้าทรงตัดสินพระทัยแน่วแน่แล้ว พระองค์จะทรงให้สิ่งนี้เกิดขึ้นในไม่ช้า

“And now let Pharaoh look for a discerning and wise man and put him in charge of the land of Egypt.

“และบัดนี้ขอให้ฟาโรห์ทรงโปรดคัดเลือกคนที่ฉลาดหลักแหลมและมีสติปัญญา และตั้งให้เขาให้ดูแลแผ่นดินอียิปต์

Let Pharaoh appoint commissioners over the land to take a fifth of the harvest of Egypt during the seven years of abundance.

ขอให้ฟาโรห์ทรงแต่งตั้งข้าราชการประจำเขตไว้ทั่วแผ่นดิน ทำหน้าที่เก็บพืชผลหนึ่งในห้าของผลผลิตที่ได้ในตลอดเจ็ดปีแห่งความอุดมสมบูรณ์

They should collect all the food of these good years that are coming and store up the grain under the authority of Pharaoh, to be kept in the cities for food.

พวกเขาควรรวบรวมอาหารทั้งหมดที่ได้ในปีแห่งความอุดมสมบูรณ์ที่กำลังจะมาถึง และให้ฟาโรห์มอบอำนาจให้พวกเขาเก็บสะสมเมล็ดข้าวไว้เป็นคลังอาหารตามเมืองต่างๆ

This food should be held in reserve for the country, to be used during the seven years of famine that will come upon Egypt, so that the country may not be ruined by the famine.”

อาหารเหล่านี้ควรเก็บไว้เป็นเสบียงสำรองให้กับประเทศสำหรับช่วงเจ็ดปีแห่งการกันดารอาหารซึ่งจะเกิดขึ้นกับอียิปต์ เพื่อว่าประเทศชาติจะไม่ย่อยยับไปเพราะการกันดารอาหาร”

The plan seemed good to Pharaoh and to all his officials.

ฟาโรห์และข้าราชการทั้งปวงล้วนเห็นชอบกับแผนงานนี้

So Pharaoh asked them, “Can we find anyone like this man, one in whom is the spirit of God^[a]?”

ดังนั้นฟาโรห์จึงตรัสถามพวกเขาว่า “เราจะหาใครที่มีพระวิญญาณของพระเจ้า^[a]อยู่ภายในเหมือนชายผู้นี้ได้หรือ?”

Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you.

แล้วฟาโรห์ตรัสกับโยเซฟว่า “เนื่องจากพระเจ้าทรงเปิดเผยความหมายของความฝันให้เจ้ารู้ จึงไม่มีผู้ใดฉลาดหลักแหลมและมีสติปัญญาเหมือนเจ้า

You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.”

Joseph in Charge of Egypt

เราจะแต่งตั้งเจ้าให้ดูแลราชสำนักของเรา และราษฎรทั้งหมดของเราจะทำตามคำสั่งของเจ้า เราจะเป็นผู้เดียวที่มีฐานะสูงกว่าเจ้าเพียงเพราะว่าเราเป็นผู้ครองราชบัลลังก์”

โยเซฟปกครองดูแลอียิปต์

So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt.”

ดังนั้นฟาโรห์จึงตรัสแก่โยเซฟว่า “บัดนี้เราขอตั้งเจ้าให้ดูแลทั่วแผ่นดินอียิปต์”

Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his finger and put it on Joseph’s finger. He dressed him in robes of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck.

แล้วฟาโรห์ทรงถอดแหวนตราประจำพระองค์จากนิ้วมาสวมที่นิ้วของโยเซฟ พระองค์ทรงให้เขาสวมเสื้อคลุมผ้าลินินเนื้อดีและประทานสร้อยคอทองคำแก่เขา

He had him ride in a chariot as his second-in-command,^[b] and people shouted before him, “Make way^[c]!” Thus he put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt.

ฟาโรห์ให้โยเซฟนั่งรถม้าศึกในฐานะผู้มีอำนาจรองจากพระองค์^[b] ไม่ว่าเขาจะไปที่ไหนก็มีคนคอยร้องประกาศว่า “จงเปิดทาง!^[c]” ดังนั้นฟาโรห์จึงทรงแต่งตั้งโยเซฟให้ดูแลทั่วแผ่นดินอียิปต์

Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, but without your word no one will lift hand or foot in all Egypt.”

ฟาโรห์ตรัสกับโยเซฟว่า “แม้ว่าเราคือฟาโรห์ แต่ถ้าเจ้าไม่อนุญาตก็จะไม่มีผู้ใดในแผ่นดินอียิปต์ยกมือยกเท้าได้”

Pharaoh gave Joseph the name Zaphenath-Paneah and gave him Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On,^[d] to be his wife. And Joseph went throughout the land of Egypt.

ฟาโรห์ประทานนามแก่โยเซฟว่าศาเฟนาทปาเนอาห์ และประทานอาเสนัทบุตรีปุโรหิตโปทิเฟราแห่งเมืองโอนให้เป็นภรรยา และโยเซฟออกตรวจตราทั่วแผ่นดินอียิปต์

Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from Pharaoh’s presence and traveled throughout Egypt.

โยเซฟมีอายุได้สามสิบปีเมื่อเข้ารับราชการกับฟาโรห์กษัตริย์แห่งอียิปต์ โยเซฟได้ทูลลาฟาโรห์และออกเดินทางไปปฏิบัติราชการทั่วแผ่นดินอียิปต์

During the seven years of abundance the land produced plentifully.

ตลอดเจ็ดปีแห่งความอุดมสมบูรณ์ แผ่นดินก็ให้ผลผลิตมากมาย

Joseph collected all the food produced in those seven years of abundance in Egypt and stored it in the cities. In each city he put the food grown in the fields surrounding it.

โยเซฟรวบรวมอาหารทั้งหมดที่ผลิตได้ในเจ็ดปีแห่งความอุดมสมบูรณ์ของอียิปต์ และเก็บสะสมไว้ตามเมืองต่างๆ ผลผลิตที่เก็บได้จากนารอบเมืองใด เขาก็ให้เก็บไว้ในเมืองนั้น

Joseph stored up huge quantities of grain, like the sand of the sea; it was so much that he stopped keeping records because it was beyond measure.

โยเซฟเก็บสะสมเมล็ดข้าวได้มหาศาลเหมือนเม็ดทรายในทะเล จนเขาต้องเลิกทำบัญชี เพราะตรวจนับไม่ไหว

Before the years of famine came, two sons were born to Joseph by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On.

ก่อนปีกันดารอาหารจะมาถึง โยเซฟได้บุตรชายสองคนซึ่งเกิดจากนางอาเสนัทบุตรีของปุโรหิตโปทิเฟราแห่งเมืองโอน

Joseph named his firstborn Manasseh^[e] and said, “It is because God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s household.”

โยเซฟตั้งชื่อบุตรหัวปีว่ามนัสเสห์^[d] เขากล่าวว่า “เพราะพระเจ้าทรงทำให้ข้าพเจ้าลืมความทุกข์ยากทั้งปวงและญาติพี่น้องทั้งหมดในครัวเรือนบิดาของข้าพเจ้า”

The second son he named Ephraim^[f] and said, “It is because God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering.”

เขาตั้งชื่อบุตรชายคนที่สองว่าเอฟราอิม^[e] เขากล่าวว่า “เพราะพระเจ้าทรงกระทำให้ข้าพเจ้ามีลูกมีหลานมากมายในดินแดนที่ข้าพเจ้าตกทุกข์ได้ยาก”

The seven years of abundance in Egypt came to an end,

ในที่สุดเจ็ดปีแห่งความอุดมสมบูรณ์ก็สิ้นสุดลง

and the seven years of famine began, just as Joseph had said. There was famine in all the other lands, but in the whole land of Egypt there was food.

และเจ็ดปีแห่งการกันดารอาหารก็เริ่มต้นขึ้นตามที่โยเซฟได้กล่าวไว้ เกิดการกันดารอาหารขึ้นทั่วทุกประเทศ แต่ทั่วแผ่นดินอียิปต์มีอาหาร

When all Egypt began to feel the famine, the people cried to Pharaoh for food. Then Pharaoh told all the Egyptians, “Go to Joseph and do what he tells you.”

เมื่อชาวอียิปต์เริ่มได้รับผลกระทบจากการกันดารอาหาร ผู้คนต่างก็มาทูลขออาหารจากฟาโรห์ ฟาโรห์จึงสั่งชาวอียิปต์ทุกคนว่า “จงไปหาโยเซฟและทำตามสิ่งที่เขาบอก”

When the famine had spread over the whole country, Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold grain to the Egyptians, for the famine was severe throughout Egypt.

เมื่อการกันดารอาหารขยายไปทั่วประเทศ โยเซฟจึงเปิดคลังขายข้าวให้แก่ชาวอียิปต์ เพราะเกิดการกันดารอาหารอย่างรุนแรงทั่วทั้งอียิปต์

And all the world came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph, because the famine was severe everywhere.

ทุกประเทศทั่วโลกพากันมายังอียิปต์เพื่อซื้อข้าวจากโยเซฟ เพราะการกันดารอาหารรุนแรงทั่วโลก
