Genesis 2

This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, when the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.

นี่คือเรื่องราวการทรงสร้างสวรรค์และโลก เมื่อพระเจ้าพระยาห์เวห์ทรงสร้างโลกและสวรรค์

Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth^[a] and no plant had yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground,

ขณะนี้ยังไม่มีต้นไม้และพืชพันธุ์ในท้องทุ่งปรากฏขึ้นในโลก^[a]เลย เพราะว่าพระเจ้าพระยาห์เวห์ยังไม่ได้ประทานฝนลงมา ทั้งยังไม่มีมนุษย์ที่จะไถพรวนดิน

but streams^[b] came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground.

แต่ก็มีน้ำ^[b]พลุ่งขึ้นจากพื้นโลกและให้ความชุ่มชื้นแก่ผิวดินทั้งหมด

Then the Lord God formed a man^[c] from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

แล้วพระเจ้าพระยาห์เวห์ทรงปั้นมนุษย์^[c]จากธุลีดินและทรงระบายลมหายใจแห่งชีวิตเข้าไปทางจมูกของเขา มนุษย์จึงมีชีวิต

Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed.

พระเจ้าพระยาห์เวห์ได้ทรงสร้างสวนแห่งหนึ่งไว้ในเอเดนทางทิศตะวันออก และให้ชายที่ทรงสร้างขึ้นอาศัยอยู่ในสวนนั้น

The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

พระเจ้าพระยาห์เวห์ทรงให้ต้นไม้ทุกชนิดทั้งที่งดงามน่าดูและที่เหมาะเป็นอาหารงอกขึ้นในสวน ที่กลางสวนนั้นมีต้นไม้แห่งชีวิตและต้นไม้แห่งการรู้ดีรู้ชั่ว

A river watering the garden flowed from Eden; from there it was separated into four headwaters.

มีแม่น้ำสายหนึ่งจากเอเดนไหลมาหล่อเลี้ยงสวนนั้นแล้วแยกออกเป็นต้นน้ำสี่สาย

The name of the first is the Pishon; it winds through the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold.

สายที่หนึ่งชื่อปิโชน ไหลผ่านดินแดนฮาวิลาห์ที่ซึ่งมีแร่ทองคำ

(The gold of that land is good; aromatic resin^[d] and onyx are also there.)

(ดินแดนนี้มีแร่ทองคำคุณภาพดี ยางไม้หอม^[d] และพลอยด้วย)

The name of the second river is the Gihon; it winds through the entire land of Cush.^[e]

สายที่สองชื่อกิโฮน ไหลผ่านทั่วดินแดนคูช

The name of the third river is the Tigris; it runs along the east side of Ashur. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.

สายที่สามคือไทกริส ซึ่งไหลไปทางทิศตะวันออกของอัสชูร์ และสายที่สี่คือยูเฟรติส

The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.

พระเจ้าพระยาห์เวห์ทรงกำหนดให้ชายผู้นั้นอยู่ในสวนเอเดน ให้เขาทำงานและดูแลรักษาสวนแห่งนั้น

And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;

และพระเจ้าพระยาห์เวห์ทรงบัญชาเขาไว้ว่า “เจ้ามีอิสระที่จะกินผลจากต้นใดๆ ในสวนก็ได้

but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

แต่เจ้าต้องไม่กินผลจากต้นแห่งการรู้ดีรู้ชั่ว เพราะถ้าเจ้ากินผลของมันเมื่อใด เจ้าจะตายแน่นอน”

The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

แล้วพระเจ้าพระยาห์เวห์ตรัสว่า “ไม่ควรให้ชายผู้นี้อยู่คนเดียว เราจะสร้างผู้อุปถัมภ์ที่เหมาะสมเท่าเทียมกับเขา”

Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.

พระเจ้าพระยาห์เวห์ได้ทรงปั้นสัตว์และนกทุกชนิดขึ้นจากดิน พระองค์ทรงนำมายังชายผู้นั้นเพื่อดูว่าเขาจะเรียกมันว่าอย่างไร สัตว์เหล่านั้นก็ได้ชื่อตามที่เขาเรียก

So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.

But for Adam^[f] no suitable helper was found.

ดังนั้นชายผู้นั้นจึงตั้งชื่อให้กับสัตว์เลี้ยงทั้งปวง นกในอากาศ และสัตว์ในท้องทุ่งทั้งสิ้น

แต่อาดัม^[e]ยังไม่พบผู้อุปถัมภ์ที่เหมาะสมเท่าเทียมสำหรับเขา

So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs^[g] and then closed up the place with flesh.

พระเจ้าพระยาห์เวห์จึงทรงบันดาลให้ชายนั้นหลับสนิท จากนั้นทรงชักกระดูกซี่โครงของเขาออกมาซี่หนึ่ง^[f]และทรงปิดเนื้อให้สนิทเข้าดังเดิม

Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib^[h] he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

แล้วพระเจ้าทรงสร้างผู้หญิงขึ้นจากกระดูกซี่โครง^[g]ที่พระองค์ทรงนำออกมาจากชายนั้น และพานางมาหาเขา

The man said,

ชายผู้นั้นกล่าวว่า

That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

เพราะเหตุนี้ผู้ชายจะละจากบิดามารดาของตนไปผูกพันกับภรรยา และพวกเขาจะเป็นเนื้อเดียวกัน

Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.

ชายนั้นกับภรรยาต่างเปลือยกายอยู่ และพวกเขาไม่รู้สึกละอายเลย
