Verse 1

This is the account of Shem, Ham and Japheth, Noah’s sons, who themselves had sons after the flood.

The Japhethites

Esta es la historia de Sem, Cam y Jafet, hijos de Noé, quienes después del diluvio tuvieron sus propios hijos.

Verse 2

The sons^[a] of Japheth:

Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshek and Tiras.

Los hijos^[a] de Jafet fueron Gómer, Magog, Maday, Javán, Tubal, Mésec y Tirás.

Verse 3

The sons of Gomer:

Ashkenaz, Riphath and Togarmah.

Los hijos de Gómer fueron Asquenaz, Rifat y Togarma.

Verse 4

The sons of Javan:

Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittites and the Rodanites.^[b]

Los hijos de Javán fueron Elisá, Tarsis, Quitín y Rodanín.^[b]

Verse 5

(From these the maritime peoples spread out into their territories by their clans within their nations, each with its own language.)

The Hamites

Algunos de ellos, que poblaron las costas, formaron naciones y clanes en sus respectivos territorios y con sus propios idiomas.

Verse 6

The sons of Ham:

Cush, Egypt, Put and Canaan.

Los hijos de Cam fueron Cus, Misrayin, Fut y Canaán.

Verse 7

The sons of Cush:

Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah and Sabteka.

The sons of Raamah:

Sheba and Dedan.

Los hijos de Cus fueron Seba, Javilá, Sabtá, Ragama y Sabteca.

Verse 8

Cush was the father^[c] of Nimrod, who became a mighty warrior on the earth.

Cus fue el padre de Nimrod, conocido como el primer gran guerrero de la tierra,

Verse 9

He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; that is why it is said, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the Lord.”

quien llegó a ser un valiente cazador ante el Señor. Por eso se dice: «Como Nimrod, valiente cazador ante el Señor».

Verse 10

The first centers of his kingdom were Babylon, Uruk, Akkad and Kalneh, in^[d] Shinar.^[e]

Las principales ciudades de su reino fueron Babel, Érec, Acad y Calné, en la región de Sinar.

Verse 11

From that land he went to Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir,^[f] Calah

Desde esa región Nimrod salió hacia Asur, donde construyó^[c] las ciudades de Nínive, Rejobot Ir,^[d] Cala

Verse 12

and Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah—which is the great city.

y Resén, la gran ciudad que está entre Nínive y Cala.

Verse 13

Egypt was the father of

the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites,

Verse 14

Pathrusites, Kasluhites (from whom the Philistines came) and Caphtorites.

Verse 15

Canaan was the father of

Sidon his firstborn,^[g] and of the Hittites,

Later the Canaanite clans scattered

Verse 20

These are the sons of Ham by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations.

The Semites

Verse 21

Sons were also born to Shem, whose older brother was^[h] Japheth; Shem was the ancestor of all the sons of Eber.

Sem, antepasado de todos los hijos de Éber, y hermano mayor de Jafet, también tuvo hijos.

Verse 22

The sons of Shem:

Elam, Ashur, Arphaxad, Lud and Aram.

Los hijos de Sem fueron Elam, Asur, Arfaxad, Lud y Aram.

Verse 23

The sons of Aram:

Uz, Hul, Gether and Meshek.^[i]

Los hijos de Aram fueron Uz, Hul, Guéter y Mas.

Verse 24

Arphaxad was the father of^[j] Shelah,

and Shelah the father of Eber.

Arfaxad fue el padre de Selaj.

Selaj fue el padre de Éber.

Verse 25

Two sons were born to Eber:

One was named Peleg,^[k] because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan.

Éber tuvo dos hijos: el primero se llamó Péleg,^[e] porque en su tiempo se dividió la tierra; su hermano se llamó Joctán.

Verse 26

Joktan was the father of

Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,

Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,

Hadorán, Uzal, Diclá,

Verse 28

Obal, Abimael, Sheba,

Obal, Abimael, Sabá,

Verse 29

Ophir, Havilah and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan.

Ofir, Javilá y Jobab. Todos estos fueron hijos de Joctán,

Verse 30

The region where they lived stretched from Mesha toward Sephar, in the eastern hill country.

y vivieron en la región que va desde Mesá hasta Sefar, en la región montañosa oriental.

Verse 31

These are the sons of Shem by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations.

Estos fueron los hijos de Sem, según sus clanes y sus idiomas, sus territorios y naciones.

Verse 32

These are the clans of Noah’s sons, according to their lines of descent, within their nations. From these the nations spread out over the earth after the flood.

Estos son los clanes de los hijos de Noé, según sus genealogías y sus naciones. A partir de estos clanes, las naciones se extendieron sobre la tierra después del diluvio.
