Song Of Songs 3

All night long on my bed
    I looked for the one my heart loves;
    I looked for him but did not find him.

(여자) 내가 잠자리에서 밤새도록 사랑하는 님을 그리워하고 찾아도 찾지 못 하였네.

I will get up now and go about the city,
    through its streets and squares;
I will search for the one my heart loves.
    So I looked for him but did not find him.

내가 일어나 거리와 광장으로 나가서 사랑하는 님을 찾았으나 만나지 못하였다.

The watchmen found me
    as they made their rounds in the city.
    “Have you seen the one my heart loves?”

야경꾼들을 만나 내 사랑하는 님을 보았느냐고 물었지.

Scarcely had I passed them
    when I found the one my heart loves.
I held him and would not let him go
    till I had brought him to my mother’s house,
    to the room of the one who conceived me.

그들을 떠난 즉시 나는 내 사랑하는 님을 만났네. 그래서 그를 붙잡아 가지 못하게 하고 내가 태어난 우리 집 방으로 데리고 갔다.

Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you
    by the gazelles and by the does of the field:
Do not arouse or awaken love
    until it so desires.

예루살렘 여자들아, 내가 너희에게 ^[a]간절히 부탁한다. 제발 우리의 사랑을 방해하지 말아다오.

세 번째 노래

Who is this coming up from the wilderness
    like a column of smoke,
perfumed with myrrh and incense
    made from all the spices of the merchant?

(여자) 상인들의 향품으로 만든 몰약과 유향의 향기를 날리며 연기 기둥처럼 사막에서 오는 자가 누구인가?

Look! It is Solomon’s carriage,
    escorted by sixty warriors,
    the noblest of Israel,

보라, 이스라엘의 용감한 병사 60명의 호위를 받으며 솔로몬의 마차가 오고 있다.

all of them wearing the sword,
    all experienced in battle,
each with his sword at his side,
    prepared for the terrors of the night.

그 경호병들은 칼을 잘 쓰는 역전의 용사들이며 밤에도 왕을 경호하려고 모두 허리에 칼을 찼구나.

King Solomon made for himself the carriage;
    he made it of wood from Lebanon.

솔로몬왕이 레바논의 나무로 자기 마차를 만들었으니

Its posts he made of silver,
    its base of gold.
Its seat was upholstered with purple,
    its interior inlaid with love.
Daughters of Jerusalem, ¹¹ come out,
    and look, you daughters of Zion.
Look^[a] on King Solomon wearing a crown,
    the crown with which his mother crowned him
on the day of his wedding,
    the day his heart rejoiced.
