Joshua 1

After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide:

Sang patay na si Moises nga alagad sang Ginoo, nagsiling ang Ginoo sa kabulig ni Moises nga si Josue nga anak ni Nun,

“Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites.

“Patay na si Moises nga akon alagad. Gani karon magpreparar kamo, ikaw kag ang tanan nga Israelinhon, sa pagtabok sa Suba sang Jordan pakadto sa duta nga akon ihatag sa inyo.

I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses.

Suno sa ginpromisa ko kay Moises, ihatag ko sa inyo ang tanan nga duta nga inyo maabot.

Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west.

Amo ini ang inyo mangin teritoryo: halin sa desierto sa bagatnan hasta sa kabukiran sang Lebanon sa aminhan, kag halin sa dako nga Suba sang Eufrates sa sidlangan, hasta sa dagat sang Mediteraneo sa nakatundan, kag ang kadutaan sang mga Hithanon.

No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.

“Wala sing may makapierdi sa imo samtang nagakabuhi ka pa. Magaupod ako sa imo pareho sang akon pag-upod kay Moises. Indi ko ikaw pagbayaan ukon pagpabay-an.

Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.

Magpakalig-on ka kag magpakaisog, kay ikaw ang magapangulo sa sining katawhan sa pagpanag-iya sang duta nga akon ginsumpa nga ihatag sa ila mga katigulangan.

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.

Basta magpakalig-on ka lang kag magpakaisog gid. Sundon mo gid sing maayo ang tanan nga kasuguan nga ginhatag sa imo ni Moises nga akon alagad. Indi mo gid ini pag-isikway, agod magmadinalag-on ka sa tanan mo nga ginahimo.

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Indi gid pagkalimti nga basahon ang Libro sang Kasuguan. Pamalandungan mo ina adlaw-gab-i, agod mahibaluan mo kon paano mo matuman ang tanan nga nasulat dira. Sa sini nga paagi mangin mainuswagon kag madinalag-on ka.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Dumdumon mo ining akon bilin sa imo: ‘Magpakalig-on ka kag magpakaisog. Indi ka magkahadlok ukon magkaluya, kay ako, ang Ginoo nga imo Dios, magaupod sa imo bisan diin ka makadto.’ ”

So Joshua ordered the officers of the people:

Gani ginmanduan ni Josue ang mga pangulo sang Israel,

“Go through the camp and tell the people, ‘Get your provisions ready. Three days from now you will cross the Jordan here to go in and take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving you for your own.’”

“Libuta ninyo ang kampo kag silingon ang mga tawo nga maghanda sila sang ila mga pagkaon kay sa ikatlo nga adlaw halin karon,^[a] matabok kita sa Suba sang Jordan sa pagpanag-iya sang duta nga ginahatag sa aton sang Ginoo nga aton Dios.”

But to the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh, Joshua said,

Dayon nagsiling si Josue sa mga tribo ni Reuben, ni Gad, kag sa katunga sang tribo ni Manase,

“Remember the command that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you after he said, ‘The Lord your God will give you rest by giving you this land.’

“Dumduma ninyo ang ginsiling sa inyo ni Moises nga alagad sang Ginoo. Nagsiling siya nga hatagan kamo sang Ginoo nga inyo Dios sang kapahuwayan kag sang sini nga duta. Kag amo na ini ang duta nga ginhatag niya sa inyo:

Your wives, your children and your livestock may stay in the land that Moses gave you east of the Jordan, but all your fighting men, ready for battle, must cross over ahead of your fellow Israelites. You are to help them

ang sidlangan nga bahin sang Suba sang Jordan. Magpabilin diri ang inyo mga asawa, kabataan kag mga kasapatan. Pero ang inyo mga soldado dapat magpanguna sa pagtabok sa Jordan sa pagbulig sa inyo mga kauturan,

until the Lord gives them rest, as he has done for you, and until they too have taken possession of the land the Lord your God is giving them. After that, you may go back and occupy your own land, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave you east of the Jordan toward the sunrise.”

hasta nga mabaton nila ang kapahuwayan halin sa Ginoo pareho sang nabaton ninyo, kag masakop nila ang duta nga ginahatag sa ila sang Ginoo nga aton Dios. Dayon puwede na kamo magbalik diri sa sidlangan nga bahin sang Jordan, sa pagpanag-iya sang sini nga duta nga ginhatag sa inyo ni Moises nga alagad sang Dios.”

Then they answered Joshua, “Whatever you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go.

Nagsabat sila kay Josue, “Himuon namon ang tanan nga imo ginsiling, kag makadto kami bisan diin mo kami ipadala.

Just as we fully obeyed Moses, so we will obey you. Only may the Lord your God be with you as he was with Moses.

Masunod kami sa imo pareho sa amon pagsunod kay Moises, basta maupod sa imo ang Ginoo nga imo Dios pareho sang iya pag-upod kay Moises.

Whoever rebels against your word and does not obey it, whatever you may command them, will be put to death. Only be strong and courageous!”

Pagapatyon ang bisan sin-o nga magkontra sa imo awtoridad kag sa imo ginamando. Magpakalig-on kag magpakaisog ka lang!”
