Matthew 25

“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.

– Тогда Царство Аллаха будет подобно десяти девушкам, которые, взяв свои лампы, вышли встречать жениха.

Five of them were foolish and five were wise.

Пять из них были глупыми, а другие пять умными.

The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them.

Глупые девушки взяли лампы, но не взяли для них масла.

The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps.

А умные вместе с лампами взяли и масло в кувшинах.

The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

Жених задержался, и они все стали дремать и заснули.

“At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’

Около полуночи раздался крик: «Жених идёт! Выходите встречать его!»

“Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps.

Девушки проснулись и стали поправлять свои лампы.

The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’

Глупые сказали умным: «Дайте нам немного масла, наши лампы гаснут».

“‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’

«Нет, – ответили те, – если мы поделимся с вами маслом, то не хватит ни вам, ни нам. Пойдите лучше к торговцам и купите».

“But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.

Только они ушли за маслом, пришёл жених. Девушки с зажжёнными лампами вошли с ним на свадебный пир, и дверь за ними закрылась.

“Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’

Позже вернулись и остальные девушки и стали просить: «Господин! Господин! Открой нам!»

“But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’

Но жених ответил: «Говорю вам истину: я не знаю вас».

“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

The Parable of the Bags of Gold

Поэтому бодрствуйте: ведь вы не знаете ни дня, ни часа.

Притча о порученных деньгах

“Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them.

– Тогда будет, как у того человека, который, отправляясь в далёкое путешествие, созвал своих рабов и поручил им своё имущество.

To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag,^[a] each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.

Одному он дал пять мешков с серебряными монетами^[a], другому – два, третьему – один, каждому по его способностям, а сам уехал.

The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more.

Получивший пять мешков сразу пошёл, вложил деньги в дело и приобрёл ещё пять.

So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more.

Получивший два мешка тоже приобрёл ещё два.

But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.

А тот, который получил один мешок, пошёл, вырыл яму и закопал деньги, которые ему доверил хозяин.

“After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them.

Прошло много времени, и вот хозяин этих рабов вернулся и потребовал у них отчёта.

The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’

Человек, которому было доверено пять мешков с монетами, принёс и другие пять: «Смотри, – сказал он хозяину, – ты доверил мне пять мешков, и я выручил ещё пять!»

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

Хозяин сказал: «Молодец! Ты хороший и верный раб! Ты был верен в малом, и я поручу тебе более важное дело. Заходи и веселись со своим хозяином!»

“The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’

Пришёл и человек, которому дали два мешка монет. «Хозяин, – сказал он, – ты доверил мне два мешка с серебряными монетами, смотри, я выручил ещё два!»

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

Хозяин сказал: «Молодец! Ты хороший и верный раб! Ты был верен в малом, и я смогу поручить тебе более важное дело. Заходи и веселись со своим хозяином!»

“Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed.

Затем пришёл и тот, кому был доверен один мешок. «Господин, – говорит он, – я знал, что ты человек суровый, жнёшь там, где не сеял, и собираешь там, где не рассыпал.

So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’

Я очень боялся и поэтому пошёл и спрятал твои деньги в землю. Вот то, что тебе принадлежит».

“His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed?

Хозяин же ответил: «Злой и ленивый раб! Значит, ты знал, что я жну, где не сеял, и собираю, где не рассыпал?

Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.

В таком случае ты должен был пустить мои деньги в оборот, чтобы, когда я вернусь, ты мог отдать их мне с прибылью.

“‘So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags.

Заберите у него этот мешок и отдайте тому, у кого десять мешков.

For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.

Потому что каждому, у кого есть, будет дано ещё, и у него будет избыток. А у кого нет, будет отнято и то, что он имеет.

And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

The Sheep and the Goats

Выбросьте этого негодного раба вон, во тьму, где будет плач и скрежет зубов».

Козлы и овцы

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne.

– Когда Ниспосланный как Человек придёт в Своей славе и с Ним все ангелы, тогда Он сядет на престоле Своей славы.

All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

Перед Ним будут собраны все народы, и Он отделит одних людей от других, как пастух отделяет овец от козлов.

He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

«Овец» Он соберёт по правую сторону от Себя, а «козлов» – по левую.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.

Тогда Царь скажет тем, кто по правую сторону: «Придите ко Мне, благословенные Моим Отцом, получите ваше наследство – Царство, приготовленное вам ещё от создания мира.

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,

Потому что Я был голоден, и вы накормили Меня; Я хотел пить, и вы напоили Меня; Я был странником, и вы приютили Меня;

I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

Я был наг, и вы одели Меня; Я был болен, и вы ухаживали за Мной; Я был в темнице, и вы пришли навестить Меня».

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?

Тогда праведные скажут: «Повелитель, когда это мы видели Тебя голодным и накормили Тебя? Когда Ты хотел пить, и мы дали Тебе напиться?

When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?

Когда мы видели Тебя странником и приютили Тебя или видели нагим и одели?

When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

Когда мы видели Тебя больным или в темнице и навестили Тебя?»

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Царь им ответит: «Говорю вам истину: то, что вы сделали одному из наименьших Моих братьев, вы сделали Мне».

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

Тогда Он скажет и тем, кто будет по левую сторону: «Идите от Меня, проклятые, в вечный огонь, приготовленный для Иблиса и его ангелов.

For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,

Потому что Я был голоден, и вы не накормили Меня; Я хотел пить, и вы не напоили Меня;

I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

Я был странником, и вы не приютили Меня; Я был наг, и вы не одели Меня; Я был болен и в темнице, и вы не навестили Меня».

“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

Они тоже спросят: «Повелитель, когда это мы видели Тебя голодным, или когда Ты хотел пить, или был странником, или нуждался в одежде, или был болен, или в темнице, и мы не помогли Тебе?»

“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

Он им ответит: «Говорю вам истину: всё, чего вы не сделали для одного из этих наименьших, вы не сделали Мне».

“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

И они пойдут в вечное наказание, а праведники – в вечную жизнь.
