Isaiah 13

Raise a banner on a bare hilltop,
    shout to them;
beckon to them
    to enter the gates of the nobles.

– Поднимите на голой вершине знамя,
    кричите им;
подайте им знак рукой,
    чтобы шли в ворота знатных.

I have commanded those I prepared for battle;
    I have summoned my warriors to carry out my wrath—
    those who rejoice in my triumph.

Я дал повеление избранному Мной народу;
    Я призвал Моих воинов, чтобы излить Мой гнев,
    тех, кто радуется Моим победам.

Listen, a noise on the mountains,
    like that of a great multitude!
Listen, an uproar among the kingdoms,
    like nations massing together!
The Lord Almighty is mustering
    an army for war.

Слышен шум на горах,
    как от огромной толпы!
Слышен мятежный шум царств,
    народов, собравшихся вместе!
Созывает Вечный, Повелитель Сил,
    войско к битве.

They come from faraway lands,
    from the ends of the heavens—
the Lord and the weapons of his wrath—
    to destroy the whole country.

Они идут из далёких земель,
    от края небес;
Вечный и орудия гнева Его идут,
    чтобы погубить всю страну.

Wail, for the day of the Lord is near;
    it will come like destruction from the Almighty.^[a]

Плачьте, потому что день Вечного близок;
    он придёт, как гибель от Всемогущего.

Because of this, all hands will go limp,
    every heart will melt with fear.

Из-за этого ослабнут все руки,
    и у всякого дрогнет сердце.

Terror will seize them,
    pain and anguish will grip them;
    they will writhe like a woman in labor.
They will look aghast at each other,
    their faces aflame.

Они ужаснутся,
    боль и судороги схватят их,
    будут мучиться, словно роженица;
будут смотреть друг на друга в изумлении,
    лица их будут пылать.

See, the day of the Lord is coming
    —a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger—
to make the land desolate
    and destroy the sinners within it.

Вот, наступает день Вечного –
    жестокий, полный негодования и пылающего гнева,
чтобы опустошить страну
    и истребить в ней грешников.

The stars of heaven and their constellations
    will not show their light.
The rising sun will be darkened
    and the moon will not give its light.

Звёзды небесные и созвездия
    не прольют своего света.
Восходящее солнце померкнет,
    и луна не даст света своего.

I will punish the world for its evil,
    the wicked for their sins.
I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty
    and will humble the pride of the ruthless.

– Я накажу мир за его зло,
    нечестивых – за их грехи.
Я положу конец гордыне надменных
    и унижу гордость безжалостных.

I will make people scarcer than pure gold,
    more rare than the gold of Ophir.

Я сделаю так, что люди будут встречаться реже чистого золота,
    реже золота из Офира.

Therefore I will make the heavens tremble;
    and the earth will shake from its place
at the wrath of the Lord Almighty,
    in the day of his burning anger.

Для этого Я сотрясу небеса,
    и тронется с места своего земля
от негодования Вечного, Повелителя Сил,
    в день Его пылающего гнева.

Like a hunted gazelle,
    like sheep without a shepherd,
they will all return to their own people,
    they will flee to their native land.

Тогда, как газель от погони,
    как овцы без пастуха,
каждый побежит к своему народу,
    устремится в свою землю.

Whoever is captured will be thrust through;
    all who are caught will fall by the sword.

Но кто попадётся – того пронзят,
    и кто будет схвачен – падёт от меча.

Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes;
    their houses will be looted and their wives violated.

Разобьют их младенцев о камни у них на глазах;
    дома их разграбят, их жён обесчестят.

See, I will stir up against them the Medes,
    who do not care for silver
    and have no delight in gold.

– Вот, Я подниму против них мидян,
    которые серебра не ценят
    и к золоту равнодушны.

Their bows will strike down the young men;
    they will have no mercy on infants,
    nor will they look with compassion on children.

Луки их сразят юношей;
    не пожалеют они младенцев,
    на детей не взглянут с состраданием.

Babylon, the jewel of kingdoms,
    the pride and glory of the Babylonians,^[b]
will be overthrown by God
    like Sodom and Gomorrah.

Вавилон, жемчужина царств,
    гордость и блеск вавилонян,
будет низвержен Аллахом,
    как Содом и Гоморра^[a].

She will never be inhabited
    or lived in through all generations;
there no nomads will pitch their tents,
    there no shepherds will rest their flocks.

Не заселится он никогда,
    не будет обитаем вовеки;
не раскинет там араб свой шатёр,
    не остановит пастух овец на отдых.

But desert creatures will lie there,
    jackals will fill her houses;
there the owls will dwell,
    and there the wild goats will leap about.

Там залягут дикие звери,
    шакалы наполнят его дома;
там будут жить совы
    и плясать дикие козлы^[b].

Hyenas will inhabit her strongholds,
    jackals her luxurious palaces.
Her time is at hand,
    and her days will not be prolonged.
