Ezekiel 20

In the seventh year, in the fifth month on the tenth day, some of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the Lord, and they sat down in front of me.

В седьмом году, в десятый день пятого месяца (14 августа 591 г. до н. э.), некоторые из старейшин Исраила пришли спросить Вечного и сели передо мной.

Then the word of the Lord came to me:

И было ко мне слово Вечного:

“Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel and say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Have you come to inquire of me? As surely as I live, I will not let you inquire of me, declares the Sovereign Lord.’

– Смертный, говори со старейшинами Исраила и скажи им: Так говорит Владыка Вечный: «Вы пришли вопрошать Меня? Верно, как и то, что Я живу, – Я не позволю вам вопрошать Меня», – возвещает Владыка Вечный.

“Will you judge them? Will you judge them, son of man? Then confront them with the detestable practices of their ancestors

Будешь ли судить их? Будешь ли судить их, смертный? Тогда укажи им на омерзительные обычаи их предков

and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: On the day I chose Israel, I swore with uplifted hand to the descendants of Jacob and revealed myself to them in Egypt. With uplifted hand I said to them, “I am the Lord your God.”

и скажи им: Так говорит Владыка Вечный: «В день, когда Я избрал Исраил, Я с поднятой рукой поклялся потомкам Якуба и открылся им в Египте. С поднятой рукой Я сказал им: „Я – Вечный, ваш Бог“.

On that day I swore to them that I would bring them out of Egypt into a land I had searched out for them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands.

В тот день Я поклялся им, что выведу их из Египта в землю, которую Я для них усмотрел, в землю, где течёт молоко и мёд, прекраснейшую из земель,

And I said to them, “Each of you, get rid of the vile images you have set your eyes on, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.”

и сказал им: „Пусть каждый отвергнет гнусные истуканы, которыми вы любуетесь, и идолами Египта не оскверняется. Я – Вечный, ваш Бог“.

“‘But they rebelled against me and would not listen to me; they did not get rid of the vile images they had set their eyes on, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and spend my anger against them in Egypt.

Но они восстали против Меня и не стали Меня слушать; они не отвергли гнусные истуканы, которыми любовались, и не отвергли идолов Египта. Тогда Я сказал, что изолью на них Свою ярость и обращу на них Свой гнев в земле Египта.

But for the sake of my name, I brought them out of Egypt. I did it to keep my name from being profaned in the eyes of the nations among whom they lived and in whose sight I had revealed myself to the Israelites.

Но Я поступил так ради Моего имени, чтобы оно не осквернилось у народов, среди которых они жили и на глазах у которых Я открылся исраильтянам, выведя их из Египта.

Therefore I led them out of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness.

Поэтому Я вывел их из Египта и привёл в пустыню.

I gave them my decrees and made known to them my laws, by which the person who obeys them will live.

Я дал им Мои установления и объявил Мои законы, потому что тот, кто исполняет их, будет жив ими.

Also I gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between us, so they would know that I the Lord made them holy.

Ещё Я дал им Мои субботы^[a] как знак между нами, чтобы они знали, что Я, Вечный, их освящаю.

“‘Yet the people of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did not follow my decrees but rejected my laws—by which the person who obeys them will live—and they utterly desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and destroy them in the wilderness.

Но народ Исраила восстал против Меня в пустыне. Они не соблюдали Моих установлений и отвергли Мои законы – хотя тот, кто исполняет их, будет жив ими – и полностью осквернили Мои субботы. Тогда Я сказал, что изолью на них Свою ярость и погублю их в пустыне.

But for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.

Но ради Моего имени Я поступил так, чтобы оно не осквернилось у народов, на глазах у которых Я вывел их.

Also with uplifted hand I swore to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land I had given them—a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands—

И с поднятой рукой Я поклялся им в пустыне, что не приведу их в землю, которую им отдал, в землю, где течёт молоко и мёд, прекраснейшую из земель,

because they rejected my laws and did not follow my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths. For their hearts were devoted to their idols.

потому что они отвергли Мои законы, не соблюдали Моих установлений и оскверняли Мои субботы. Ведь их сердца были преданы идолам.

Yet I looked on them with pity and did not destroy them or put an end to them in the wilderness.

Но Я посмотрел на них с жалостью и не погубил, не уничтожил их в пустыне.

I said to their children in the wilderness, “Do not follow the statutes of your parents or keep their laws or defile yourselves with their idols.

В пустыне Я сказал их детям: „Не исполняйте установлений и законов ваших отцов и не оскверняйте себя их идолами.

I am the Lord your God; follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

Я – Вечный, ваш Бог; следуйте Моим установлениям и прилежно исполняйте Мои законы.

Keep my Sabbaths holy, that they may be a sign between us. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.”

Храните Мои субботы святыми, чтобы они были знаком соглашения между нами. Тогда вы узнаете, что Я – Вечный, ваш Бог“.

“‘But the children rebelled against me: They did not follow my decrees, they were not careful to keep my laws, of which I said, “The person who obeys them will live by them,” and they desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and spend my anger against them in the wilderness.

Но их дети восстали против Меня: они не исполняли Моих установлений, не старались исполнять Мои законы – хотя тот, кто исполняет их, будет жив ими – и оскверняли Мои субботы. Тогда Я сказал, что изолью на них в пустыне Свою ярость и обращу на них Свой гнев.

But I withheld my hand, and for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.

Но Я удержал Свою руку и ради Моего имени поступил так, чтобы оно не осквернилось у народов, на глазах у которых Я их вывел.

Also with uplifted hand I swore to them in the wilderness that I would disperse them among the nations and scatter them through the countries,

И с поднятой рукой Я поклялся им в пустыне, что рассею их среди народов и разбросаю по странам

because they had not obeyed my laws but had rejected my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths, and their eyes lusted after their parents’ idols.

за то, что они не исполняли Моих законов, отвергли Мои установления и оскверняли Мои субботы, а глаза их были обращены к идолам их отцов.

So I gave them other statutes that were not good and laws through which they could not live;

Поэтому Я позволил им следовать установлениям, которые не были хороши, и законам, по которым нельзя жить.

I defiled them through their gifts—the sacrifice of every firstborn—that I might fill them with horror so they would know that I am the Lord.’

Я разрешил им оскверняться их дарами – принесением в огненную жертву каждого первенца, – чтобы ужаснуть их, чтобы они узнали, что Я – Вечный».

“Therefore, son of man, speak to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: In this also your ancestors blasphemed me by being unfaithful to me:

Поэтому, смертный, говори с народом Исраила и скажи им: Так говорит Владыка Вечный: «Этим ваши предки тоже оскорбляли Меня, поступая со Мной вероломно.

When I brought them into the land I had sworn to give them and they saw any high hill or any leafy tree, there they offered their sacrifices, made offerings that aroused my anger, presented their fragrant incense and poured out their drink offerings.

Я привёл их в землю, которую клялся им дать, а они, завидев высокий холм или тенистое дерево, приносили там жертвы, совершали приношения, которые возбуждали Мой гнев, возносили благовония и воздавали жертвенные возлияния.

Then I said to them: What is this high place you go to?’” (It is called Bamah^[a] to this day.)

Rebellious Israel Renewed

Я спросил их: „Что это за возвышенность, на которую вы ходите?“»

(Поэтому такие капища называются «возвышенностями»^[b] и до сегодняшнего дня.)

Наказание и возрождение

“Therefore say to the Israelites: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Will you defile yourselves the way your ancestors did and lust after their vile images?

– Поэтому говори исраильтянам: Так говорит Владыка Вечный: «Вы хотите осквернять себя по примеру отцов и блудить с их гнусными истуканами?

When you offer your gifts—the sacrifice of your children in the fire—you continue to defile yourselves with all your idols to this day. Am I to let you inquire of me, you Israelites? As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I will not let you inquire of me.

Когда вы приносите дары и сжигаете детей, принося их в жертву, вы по-прежнему оскверняете себя своими идолами. Неужели Я позволю вам вопрошать Меня, о народ Исраила? Верно, как и то, что Я живу, – возвещает Владыка Вечный, – Я не позволю вам вопрошать Меня.

“‘You say, “We want to be like the nations, like the peoples of the world, who serve wood and stone.” But what you have in mind will never happen.

Вы говорите: „Мы хотим быть как все народы, племена земли, которые служат дереву и камню“, но вовеки не бывать тому, что у вас на уме.

As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I will reign over you with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with outpoured wrath.

Верно, как и то, что Я живу, – возвещает Владыка Вечный, – Я буду править вами могучей и простёртой рукой и великой яростью.

I will bring you from the nations and gather you from the countries where you have been scattered—with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with outpoured wrath.

Я выведу вас от народов и соберу из стран, где вы были рассеяны, – могучей и простёртой рукой и великой яростью.

I will bring you into the wilderness of the nations and there, face to face, I will execute judgment upon you.

Я изгоню вас в пустыню народов^[c] и там буду судиться с вами лицом к лицу.

As I judged your ancestors in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will judge you, declares the Sovereign Lord.

Подобно тому, как Я судился с вашими предками в пустыне земли Египта, так Я буду судиться и с вами, – возвещает Владыка Вечный. –

I will take note of you as you pass under my rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.

Я проведу вас под пастушеским посохом, чтобы посчитать и осмотреть вас, и введу в узы соглашения.

I will purge you of those who revolt and rebel against me. Although I will bring them out of the land where they are living, yet they will not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

Я очищу вас от тех, кто взбунтовался и восстал против Меня. Хотя Я и выведу их из земли, где они живут как пришельцы, но в землю Исраила они не войдут. Тогда вы узнаете, что Я – Вечный».

“‘As for you, people of Israel, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Go and serve your idols, every one of you! But afterward you will surely listen to me and no longer profane my holy name with your gifts and idols.

А о вас, исраильтяне, так говорит Владыка Вечный: «Ступайте, служите каждый своим идолам, если не будете слушать Меня! Но вам больше не осквернять Моего святого имени своими дарами и идолами.

For on my holy mountain, the high mountain of Israel, declares the Sovereign Lord, there in the land all the people of Israel will serve me, and there I will accept them. There I will require your offerings and your choice gifts,^[b] along with all your holy sacrifices.

Ведь на Моей святой горе, на горной вершине Исраила, – возвещает Владыка Вечный, – там, в той земле, весь народ Исраила будет служить Мне, и там Я приму их с благоволением. Там Я потребую ваших приношений и лучших даров^[d] со всеми священными жертвами.

I will accept you as fragrant incense when I bring you out from the nations and gather you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will be proved holy through you in the sight of the nations.

Я приму вас, как приятный запах благовоний, когда выведу из народов и соберу из стран, где вы были рассеяны, и явлю среди вас Свою святость на глазах у народов.

Then you will know that I am the Lord, when I bring you into the land of Israel, the land I had sworn with uplifted hand to give to your ancestors.

Тогда вы узнаете, что Я – Вечный, когда Я приведу вас в землю Исраила, в землю, которую Я с поднятой рукой клялся отдать вашим предкам.

There you will remember your conduct and all the actions by which you have defiled yourselves, and you will loathe yourselves for all the evil you have done.

Там вы вспомните свои пути и дела, которыми оскверняли себя, и будете гнушаться себя из-за зла, которое сделали.

You will know that I am the Lord, when I deal with you for my name’s sake and not according to your evil ways and your corrupt practices, you people of Israel, declares the Sovereign Lord.’”

Prophecy Against the South

Вы узнаете, что Я – Вечный, когда Я поступлю с вами ради Моего имени, а не по вашим злым путям и скверным делам, о народ Исраила», – возвещает Владыка Вечный.

Огонь и меч против Иерусалима

The word of the Lord came to me:

Было ко мне слово Вечного:

“Son of man, set your face toward the south; preach against the south and prophesy against the forest of the southland.

– Смертный, обрати лицо на юг; проповедуй против южных земель и пророчествуй о лесах южного края.

Say to the southern forest: ‘Hear the word of the Lord. This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am about to set fire to you, and it will consume all your trees, both green and dry. The blazing flame will not be quenched, and every face from south to north will be scorched by it.

Скажи лесу южного края: Слушай слово Вечного. Так говорит Владыка Вечный: «Гляди, Я зажигаю среди тебя огонь, и он уничтожит все твои деревья, и зелёные, и засохшие. Не погаснет пылающее пламя, и вся земля с юга до севера будет опалена им.

Everyone will see that I the Lord have kindled it; it will not be quenched.’”

Всякая плоть увидит, что Я, Вечный, зажёг его; оно не погаснет».

Then I said, “Sovereign Lord, they are saying of me, ‘Isn’t he just telling parables?’”^[c]

Тогда я сказал:

– О Владыка Вечный! Они говорят мне: «Разве он говорит не притчами?»
