Exodus 14

Then the Lord said to Moses,

Вечный сказал Мусе:

“Tell the Israelites to turn back and encamp near Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea. They are to encamp by the sea, directly opposite Baal Zephon.

– Скажи исраильтянам, чтобы они повернули назад и остановились у Пи-Хирота, между Мигдолом и морем. Пусть они расположатся у моря, прямо перед Баал-Цефоном.

Pharaoh will think, ‘The Israelites are wandering around the land in confusion, hemmed in by the desert.’

Фараон подумает: «Исраильтяне блуждают по этой земле в растерянности, окружённые пустыней».

And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them. But I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.” So the Israelites did this.

Я сделаю сердце фараона упрямым, и он погонится за ними. И тогда, победив фараона с его войском, Я прославлюсь. Тогда египтяне узнают, что Я – Вечный.

Исраильтяне так и сделали.

When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said, “What have we done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services!”

Когда царю Египта сказали, что народ Исраила убежал, фараон и его приближённые настроились против исраильтян и сказали:

– Что мы сделали? Мы отпустили исраильтян и лишились работников!

So he had his chariot made ready and took his army with him.

Фараон запряг колесницу и взял с собой войско.

He took six hundred of the best chariots, along with all the other chariots of Egypt, with officers over all of them.

Он взял шестьсот отборных колесниц и все остальные колесницы Египта с их начальниками.

The Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, so that he pursued the Israelites, who were marching out boldly.

Вечный наполнил сердце фараона, царя Египта, упрямством, и он погнался за исраильтянами, которые смело покидали Египет.

The Egyptians—all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots, horsemen^[a] and troops—pursued the Israelites and overtook them as they camped by the sea near Pi Hahiroth, opposite Baal Zephon.

Войско египтян со всеми лошадьми фараона, колесницами и всадниками погналось за исраильтянами и настигло их, когда они расположились лагерем у моря, рядом с Пи-Хиротом, напротив Баал-Цефона.

As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the Lord.

Когда фараон приблизился, исраильтяне оглянулись и увидели, что египтяне преследуют их. Они очень испугались и стали взывать к Вечному.

They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?

Они сказали Мусе:

– Разве в Египте не было могил, что ты повёл нас умирать в пустыню? Что ты сделал с нами, выведя нас из Египта?

Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!”

Разве мы не говорили тебе в Египте: «Оставь нас в покое. Дай нам служить египтянам?» Лучше бы нам оставаться рабами у египтян, чем умирать в пустыне!

Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.

Муса ответил народу:

– Не бойтесь. Стойте твёрдо, и вы увидите, как Вечный спасёт вас сегодня. Египтян, которых вы видите сейчас, вы не увидите больше никогда.

The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

Будьте спокойны, Вечный будет сражаться за вас.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on.

Вечный сказал Мусе:

– Зачем ты взываешь ко Мне? Вели исраильтянам идти вперёд.

Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.

Подними посох, простри руку над морем, и оно разделится. Тогда исраильтяне смогут пройти через море, как по суше.

I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen.

А Я сделаю египтян упрямыми, и они пойдут за вами. Я прославлюсь, победив фараона и его войско, с его колесницами и всадниками.

The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen.”

Египтяне узнают, что Я – Вечный, когда Я прославлюсь, победив фараона с его колесницами и всадниками.

Then the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel’s army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them,

Ангел Аллаха, Который шёл перед исраильским войском, пошёл позади него. Облачный столб тоже передвинулся со своего места и оказался позади них,

coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel. Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long.

между войсками Египта и Исраила. Всю ночь облако давало тьму одной стороне и свет другой, и всю ночь свет и тьма не могли сойтись.

Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided,

Муса простёр руку над морем, а Вечный всю ночь отгонял море сильным восточным ветром и превратил его в сушу. Воды разделились,

and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.

и исраильтяне прошли через море, как по суше: одна стена воды стояла у них справа, а другая – слева.

The Egyptians pursued them, and all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots and horsemen followed them into the sea.

Египтяне погнались за ними. Лошади, колесницы с всадниками фараона ринулись в море за исраильтянами.

During the last watch of the night the Lord looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion.

Перед самым рассветом Вечный посмотрел из огненного и облачного столба на египетское войско и поверг его в смятение.

He jammed^[b] the wheels of their chariots so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, “Let’s get away from the Israelites! The Lord is fighting for them against Egypt.”

Он застопорил^[a] колёса их колесниц, и им стало трудно ехать.

Египтяне сказали:

– Бежим отсюда! Вечный сражается на стороне исраильтян против Египта.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen.”

Тогда Вечный сказал Мусе:

– Протяни руку над морем, чтобы воды хлынули назад, на египтян, на их колесницы и всадников.

Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea went back to its place. The Egyptians were fleeing toward^[c] it, and the Lord swept them into the sea.

Муса простёр руку над морем, и с рассветом воды сомкнулись. Египтяне бежали навстречу морю, и Вечный смёл их в воду.

The water flowed back and covered the chariots and horsemen—the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea. Not one of them survived.

Вода хлынула назад и накрыла колесницы и всадников – всё войско фараона, которое ринулось за исраильтянами в море. Не спасся никто.

But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.

Но исраильтяне перешли через море, как по суше: одна стена воды стояла у них справа, а другая – слева.

That day the Lord saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore.

В тот день Вечный спас исраильтян от египтян, и исраильтяне увидели их мёртвыми на берегу.

And when the Israelites saw the mighty hand of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.

Когда исраильтяне увидели великую силу Вечного, которой Он сразил египтян, то страх перед Вечным охватил их. Они поверили Вечному и Мусе, рабу Его.
