Deuteronomy 18

The Levitical priests—indeed, the whole tribe of Levi—are to have no allotment or inheritance with Israel. They shall live on the food offerings presented to the Lord, for that is their inheritance.

Священнослужители-левиты – да и весь род Леви – не должны иметь надела или наследия в Исраиле. Они будут жить огненными жертвами Вечному, потому что это их наследие^[a].

They shall have no inheritance among their fellow Israelites; the Lord is their inheritance, as he promised them.

У них не будет наследия среди братьев, потому что Вечный – их наследие, как Он и обещал им.

This is the share due the priests from the people who sacrifice a bull or a sheep: the shoulder, the internal organs and the meat from the head.

Вот доля, которая причитается священнослужителям от народа и от всех тех, кто приносит в жертву быка или овцу, – это плечо, челюсти и желудок.

You are to give them the firstfruits of your grain, new wine and olive oil, and the first wool from the shearing of your sheep,

Также ты должен давать им первые плоды со сборов зерна, молодого вина и масла, и шерсть от первой стрижки овец,

for the Lord your God has chosen them and their descendants out of all your tribes to stand and minister in the Lord’s name always.

потому что Вечный, твой Бог, выбрал левитов и их потомков из всех твоих родов, чтобы они всегда стояли и служили во имя Вечного.

If a Levite moves from one of your towns anywhere in Israel where he is living, and comes in all earnestness to the place the Lord will choose,

Если где-нибудь в Исраиле левит уйдёт из города, где он живёт, и придёт по желанию сердца на место, которое выберет Вечный,

he may minister in the name of the Lord his God like all his fellow Levites who serve there in the presence of the Lord.

то он может служить во имя Вечного, своего Бога, подобно всем своим соплеменникам-левитам, которые стоят там перед Вечным.

He is to share equally in their benefits, even though he has received money from the sale of family possessions.

When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there.

Когда ты войдёшь в землю, которую даёт тебе Вечный, твой Бог, не подражай мерзким обычаям тех народов.

Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft,

Пусть не будет среди вас того, кто приносит в огненную жертву своего сына или свою дочь, занимается ворожбой и волшебством, толкует знамения, колдует,

or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.

наводит чары, вызывает призраков и духов или вопрошает мёртвых.

Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you.

Всякий, кто творит такие дела, отвратителен Вечному, и из-за этих мерзких обычаев Вечный, твой Бог, прогонит от тебя народы.

You must be blameless before the Lord your God.

The Prophet

Ты должен быть непорочен перед Вечным, твоим Богом.

Пророк

The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the Lord your God has not permitted you to do so.

Народы, которые ты выселишь, слушают тех, кто занимается волшебством и ворожбой. Но тебе Вечный, твой Бог, не позволяет этого.

The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him.

Из твоей среды, из твоего же народа Вечный, твой Бог, поставит тебе Пророка, подобного мне. Ты должен слушать Его.

For this is what you asked of the Lord your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said, “Let us not hear the voice of the Lord our God nor see this great fire anymore, or we will die.”

Ведь именно этого ты просил у Вечного, своего Бога, у горы Синай^[b] в день собрания, когда сказал: «Пусть не услышу я больше голос Вечного, моего Бога, и не увижу больше этот великий огонь, чтобы не умереть»^[c].

The Lord said to me: “What they say is good.

Вечный сказал мне: «То, что они говорят, – хорошо.

I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words in his mouth. He will tell them everything I command him.

Я пошлю им Пророка, подобного тебе, из их братьев. Я вложу Свои слова в Его уста, и Он будет говорить им всё то, что Я Ему повелю.^[d]

I myself will call to account anyone who does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name.

Если кто-то не станет слушать Мои слова, которые Пророк Тот будет говорить от Моего имени, то Я сам призову того к ответу.

But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.”

Но пророк, который осмелится говорить от Моего имени хоть что-то, чего Я не повелевал ему, или пророк, который станет говорить от имени других богов, должен быть предан смерти».

You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?”

Ты можешь сказать про себя: «Как нам узнать слово, которое Вечный не говорил?»

If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.

Если то, что пророк объявляет от имени Вечного, не происходит и не исполняется, то это то слово, которое Вечный не говорил. Тот пророк говорил самонадеянно. Не бойся его.
