Amos 1

Verse 1

The words of Amos, one of the shepherds of Tekoa—the vision he saw concerning Israel two years before the earthquake, when Uzziah was king of Judah and Jeroboam son of Jehoash^[a] was king of Israel.

Слова Амоса, одного из пастухов Текоа, – то, что он видел об Исраиле за два года до землетрясения, когда Уззия был царём Иудеи, а Иеровоам, сын Иоаша, царём Исраила.^[a]

Verse 2

He said:

“The Lord roars from Zion
and thunders from Jerusalem;
the pastures of the shepherds dry up,
and the top of Carmel withers.”

Judgment on Israel’s Neighbors

Он сказал:

– Прогремит Вечный^[b] с Сиона,
воскликнет Он громким голосом из Иерусалима –
и засохнут пастбища пастухов^[c],
и завянет плодородная вершина Кармила.

Суд над соседями Исраила

Verse 3

This is what the Lord says:

“For three sins of Damascus,
even for four, I will not relent.
Because she threshed Gilead
with sledges having iron teeth,

Так говорит Вечный:

– Дамаск грех добавляет ко греху^[d] –
не отвращу от него Мой гнев.
За то, что он молотил Галаад
молотильными досками с железными зубьями,^[e]

Verse 4

I will send fire on the house of Hazael
that will consume the fortresses of Ben-Hadad.

Я пошлю огонь на дом Хазаила^[f],
и он пожрёт крепости Бен-Адада^[g].

Verse 5

I will break down the gate of Damascus;
I will destroy the king who is in^[b] the Valley of Aven^[c]
and the one who holds the scepter in Beth Eden.
The people of Aram will go into exile to Kir,”
says the Lord.

Я сокрушу ворота Дамаска;
    погублю царя^[h] из долины Авен («долины зла»)
    и того, кто держит скипетр в Бет-Эдене («доме удовольствия»).
Народ Сирии пойдёт в плен на свою родину,
    будет изгнан в Кир, –
        говорит Вечный.

Verse 6

This is what the Lord says:

“For three sins of Gaza,
even for four, I will not relent.
Because she took captive whole communities
and sold them to Edom,

Так говорит Вечный:

– Газа грех добавляет ко греху –
не отвращу от неё Мой гнев.
За то, что она брала в плен жителей целых поселений
и продавала их в Эдом^[i],

Verse 7

I will send fire on the walls of Gaza
that will consume her fortresses.

Я пошлю огонь на стены Газы,
и он пожрёт её крепости.

Verse 8

I will destroy the king^[d] of Ashdod
and the one who holds the scepter in Ashkelon.
I will turn my hand against Ekron,
till the last of the Philistines are dead,”
says the Sovereign Lord.

Я погублю царя Ашдода
    и того, кто держит скипетр в Ашкелоне.
Я обращу Свою руку против Экрона,
    пока не умрёт последний из филистимлян, –
        говорит Владыка Вечный.

Verse 9

This is what the Lord says:

“For three sins of Tyre,
even for four, I will not relent.
Because she sold whole communities of captives to Edom,
disregarding a treaty of brotherhood,

Так говорит Вечный:

– Тир грех добавляет ко греху –
не отвращу от него Мой гнев.
За то, что он продавал в рабство Эдому жителей целых поселений,
пренебрегая братским союзом,^[j]

Verse 10

I will send fire on the walls of Tyre
that will consume her fortresses.”

Я пошлю огонь на стены Тира,
и он пожрёт его крепости.

Verse 11

This is what the Lord says:

“For three sins of Edom,
    even for four, I will not relent.
Because he pursued his brother with a sword
    and slaughtered the women of the land,
because his anger raged continually
    and his fury flamed unchecked,

Так говорит Вечный:

– Эдом грех добавляет ко греху –
    не отвращу от него Мой гнев.
За то, что он преследовал своего брата^[k] мечом,
    подавляя всякое сострадание,^[l]
что гнев его горел непрестанно,
    и ярость его всегда пылала –

Verse 12

I will send fire on Teman
that will consume the fortresses of Bozrah.”

Я пошлю огонь на Теман,
и он пожрёт крепости Боцры.

Verse 13

This is what the Lord says:

“For three sins of Ammon,
even for four, I will not relent.
Because he ripped open the pregnant women of Gilead
in order to extend his borders,

Так говорит Вечный:

– Аммон грех добавляет ко греху –
не отвращу от него Мой гнев.
За то, что он вспарывал животы беременным женщинам в Галааде,
когда расширял свои границы,

Verse 14

I will set fire to the walls of Rabbah
that will consume her fortresses
amid war cries on the day of battle,
amid violent winds on a stormy day.

Я зажгу огонь на стенах его столицы Раббы,
и он пожрёт её крепости
среди криков войны в день брани,
среди вихрей свирепых в день бури.

Verse 15

Her king^[e] will go into exile,
he and his officials together,”
says the Lord.

Царь её пойдёт в плен
вместе со своими приближёнными, –
говорит Вечный.
