1 Kings 17

Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe^[a] in Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.”

Elijah Fed by Ravens

Ильяс из Тишбы, что в Галааде, сказал Ахаву:

– Верно, как и то, что жив Вечный, Бог Исраила, Которому я служу, – в эти годы не будет ни росы, ни дождя, разве только по моему слову.

Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah:

И к Ильясу было слово Вечного:

“Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan.

– Уходи отсюда, иди на восток и спрячься у реки Керита, что к востоку от Иордана.

You will drink from the brook, and I have directed the ravens to supply you with food there.”

Из реки ты будешь пить, а кормить тебя Я повелел во́ронам.

So he did what the Lord had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there.

И он сделал, как сказал ему Вечный. Он пошёл к реке Кериту, что к востоку от Иордана, и остался там.

The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.

Elijah and the Widow at Zarephath

Вороны приносили ему хлеб и мясо утром и вечером, а пил он из реки.

Ильяс и вдова из Сарепты

Some time later the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land.

Через некоторое время река пересохла, потому что в стране не было дождя.

Then the word of the Lord came to him:

Тогда к пророку было слово Вечного:

“Go at once to Zarephath in the region of Sidon and stay there. I have directed a widow there to supply you with food.”

– Теперь ступай в Сарепту^[a], что близ Сидона, и живи там. Я повелел одной вдове кормить тебя.

So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and asked, “Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?”

И он пошёл в Сарепту. Когда он подошёл к воротам города, там была вдова, которая собирала дрова. Он позвал её и сказал:

– Принеси мне в сосуде немного воды попить.

As she was going to get it, he called, “And bring me, please, a piece of bread.”

Когда она пошла, он окликнул её и сказал:

– Принеси мне и кусок хлеба.

“As surely as the Lord your God lives,” she replied, “I don’t have any bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it—and die.”

– Верно, как и то, что жив Вечный, твой Бог, – ответила она, – у меня нет хлеба – лишь пригоршня муки в кадке да немного масла в кувшине. Вот возьму пару поленьев и пойду, приготовлю из этой муки еду для себя и для сына. Съедим это, а потом умрём.

Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son.

Ильяс сказал ей:

– Не бойся. Иди домой и сделай так, как сказала. Но сперва сделай для меня из того, что у тебя есть, маленькую лепёшку и принеси мне, а потом приготовь что-нибудь для себя и своего сына.

For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.’”

Ведь так говорит Вечный, Бог Исраила: «Мука в кадке не переведётся, и масло в кувшине не кончится до того дня, когда Вечный пошлёт на землю дождь».

She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family.

Она пошла и сделала так, как сказал ей Ильяс. И каждый день у неё, у Ильяса и у её семьи была пища.

For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah.

Мука в кадке не переводилась и масло в кувшине не кончалось – по слову Вечного, сказанному Ильясом.

Воскрешение сына вдовы

Some time later the son of the woman who owned the house became ill. He grew worse and worse, and finally stopped breathing.

Через некоторое время сын той женщины, хозяйки дома, заболел. Ему становилось всё хуже и хуже и, наконец, он перестал дышать.

She said to Elijah, “What do you have against me, man of God? Did you come to remind me of my sin and kill my son?”

Тогда она сказала Ильясу:

– Что у тебя против меня, человек Аллаха? Ты пришёл, чтобы напомнить мне о моём грехе и убить моего сына?

“Give me your son,” Elijah replied. He took him from her arms, carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his bed.

– Дай мне своего сына, – ответил ей Ильяс.

Он взял его у неё из рук, отнёс в верхнюю комнату, где он жил, и положил его на постель.

Then he cried out to the Lord, “Lord my God, have you brought tragedy even on this widow I am staying with, by causing her son to die?”

Затем он воззвал к Вечному:

– Вечный, Бог мой, неужели Ты наведёшь беду и на вдову, у которой я живу, умертвив её сына?

Then he stretched himself out on the boy three times and cried out to the Lord, “Lord my God, let this boy’s life return to him!”

Он простирался над мальчиком трижды и взывал к Вечному:

– Вечный, Бог мой, пусть жизнь этого мальчика вернётся к нему!

The Lord heard Elijah’s cry, and the boy’s life returned to him, and he lived.

Вечный услышал мольбу Ильяса, и жизнь мальчика вернулась к нему, и он ожил.

Elijah picked up the child and carried him down from the room into the house. He gave him to his mother and said, “Look, your son is alive!”

Ильяс взял мальчика и отнёс его вниз из своей комнаты в дом. Он отдал его матери и сказал:

– Смотри, твой сын жив!

Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the Lord from your mouth is the truth.”

Женщина сказала Ильясу:

– Теперь я знаю, что ты пророк, и что слово Вечного, сказанное тобой, истинно.
