Matthew 23

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples:

Тогда Иса сказал народу и Своим ученикам:

“The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat.

– Место Мусы заняли учители Таурата и блюстители Закона.

So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.

Поэтому вы должны делать всё, что они говорят, но их собственным делам подражать не следует, потому что они проповедуют одно, а делают другое.

They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.

Они взваливают на плечи людей непомерно тяжёлые ноши, а сами и пальцем не пошевельнут, чтобы хоть чуть-чуть сдвинуть этот груз.

“Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries^[a] wide and the tassels on their garments long;

Они всё делают напоказ: их коробочки с текстами из Таурата становятся всё шире, и кисточки на краях одежды – всё длиннее.^[a]

they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues;

Им нравится занимать почётные места на пирах и в молитвенных домах.

they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.

Они любят, когда их приветствуют в людных местах и когда люди обращаются к ним: «Учитель».

“But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers.

Вас же пусть не называют учителями, потому что у вас только один Учитель, а вы все – братья.

And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.

И ни к кому на земле не обращайтесь «отец»,^[b] потому что у вас только один Отец, Который на небе.

Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah.

Пусть вас не называют наставниками, потому что у вас один только Наставник – Масих.

The greatest among you will be your servant.

Самый великий из вас пусть будет вам слугой,

For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

Seven Woes on the Teachers of the Law and the Pharisees

потому что, кто возвышает себя, будет унижен, а кто принижает себя, будет возвышен.

Иса Масих обличает религиозных вождей

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. ^[14] [b]

– Горе вам, учители Таурата и блюстители Закона! Лицемеры! Вы закрываете перед людьми вход в Царство Всевышнего, сами не входите в него и не даёте войти тем, кто хочет.^[c]

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when you have succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell as you are.

– Горе вам, учители Таурата и блюстители Закона! Лицемеры! Вы проходите море и сушу, чтобы найти себе учеников, а когда вы находите хотя бы одного, то делаете его вдвое больше достойным ада, чем вы сами.

“Woe to you, blind guides! You say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but anyone who swears by the gold of the temple is bound by that oath.’

– Горе вам, слепые поводыри! Вы говорите: «Если кто поклянётся храмом, это ещё ничего не значит, но если кто поклянётся золотом храма, то он связан своей клятвой».

You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred?

Вы – слепые безумцы! Что важнее: золото или храм, освятивший золото?

You also say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but anyone who swears by the gift on the altar is bound by that oath.’

Вы говорите: «Если кто поклянётся жертвенником, то это ещё ничего не значит, но если кто поклянётся даром, принесённым на жертвенник, тот связан своей клятвой».

You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred?

Слепцы! Что важнее: дар или жертвенник, который освящает дар?

Therefore, anyone who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.

Тот, кто поклялся жертвенником, поклялся и всем, что на жертвеннике,

And anyone who swears by the temple swears by it and by the one who dwells in it.

и кто клянётся храмом, клянётся и Тем, Кто обитает в храме.

And anyone who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the one who sits on it.

Кто клянётся небом, тот клянётся престолом Всевышнего и Тем, Кто сидит на нём.

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.

– Горе вам, учители Таурата и блюстители Закона! Лицемеры! Вы даёте десятую часть с мяты, укропа и тмина,^[d] а самым важным в Законе – справедливостью, милостью и верностью – вы пренебрегаете. И то нужно делать, и другого не оставлять.

You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

Слепые поводыри! Вы отцеживаете комара из вашего питья, а верблюда проглатываете.^[e]

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.

– Горе вам, учители Таурата и блюстители Закона! Лицемеры! Вы заботитесь о внешнем, в то время как внутри вы полны алчности и распущенности – это всё равно, как если бы вы очищали чаши и блюда только снаружи.

Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

Слепой блюститель Закона! Очисти сначала чашу и блюдо внутри, тогда и снаружи они станут чисты.

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean.

– Горе вам, учители Таурата и блюстители Закона! Лицемеры! Вы – как побелённые гробницы,^[f] которые снаружи выглядят красиво, а внутри полны костей мертвецов и всякой нечистоты.

In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

Так и вы снаружи можете показаться людям праведными, но внутри вы полны лицемерия и беззакония.

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous.

– Горе вам, учители Таурата и блюстители Закона! Лицемеры! Вы строите гробницы пророкам, украшаете надгробные памятники праведникам

And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’

и говорите: «Если бы мы жили во времена наших предков, то мы бы не проливали вместе с ними крови пророков».

So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets.

Тем самым вы свидетельствуете о себе, что вы потомки тех, кто убил пророков.

Go ahead, then, and complete what your ancestors started!

Ну что же, продолжайте пополнять чашу злодейств ваших отцов!

“You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?

Змеи, отродье змеиное! Вы ещё надеетесь избежать осуждения и не попасть в ад?!

Therefore I am sending you prophets and sages and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.

Вот, Я посылаю к вам пророков, мудрых людей, учителей Таурата, а вы некоторых из них убьёте и распнёте, других будете бичевать в ваших молитвенных домах и гнать из города в город.

And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.

И потому падёт на вас вина за кровь всех праведников, пролитую на земле, от крови Авеля и до крови Закарии, сына Берехии, которого вы убили во дворе храма, возле жертвенника.^[g]

Truly I tell you, all this will come on this generation.

Говорю вам истину: наказание за все эти преступления падёт на нынешнее поколение.

Иса Масих оплакивает Иерусалим

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.

– О, Иерусалим, Иерусалим, убивающий пророков и побивающий камнями посланных к тебе! Сколько раз Я хотел собрать твоих детей, как птица собирает своих птенцов под крылья, но вы не захотели!

Look, your house is left to you desolate.

А теперь ваш дом оставляется вам пустым.^[h]

For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’^[c]”

Говорю вам, что вы уже не увидите Меня до тех пор, пока не скажете: «Благословен Тот, Кто приходит во имя Вечного!»^[i]
