John 19

Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged.

The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe

Солдаты сплели венок из терновника и надели Ему на голову. Они одели Его в пурпурную мантию,

and went up to him again and again, saying, “Hail, king of the Jews!” And they slapped him in the face.

подходили к Нему, говоря:

– Да здравствует Царь иудеев! – и били Его по лицу.

Once more Pilate came out and said to the Jews gathered there, “Look, I am bringing him out to you to let you know that I find no basis for a charge against him.”

Пилат вышел ещё раз и сказал народу:

– Смотрите! Вот, я вывожу Его ещё раз, чтобы вы убедились, что я не нахожу в Нём никакой вины.

When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, “Here is the man!”

– Вот Человек,^[a] – сказал Пилат, когда Иса вышел в терновом венке и в пурпурной мантии.

As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, “Crucify! Crucify!”

But Pilate answered, “You take him and crucify him. As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him.”

Как только главные священнослужители и стража увидели Его, они закричали:

– Распни! Распни Его!

Но Пилат ответил:

– Берите Его сами и распинайте, я же не нахожу в Нём никакой вины.

The Jewish leaders insisted, “We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God.”

Толпа настаивала:

– У нас есть Закон, и по нашему Закону Он должен умереть, потому что называет Себя Сыном Всевышнего (Божественным Царём)!^[b]

When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid,

Услышав это, Пилат ещё больше испугался.

and he went back inside the palace. “Where do you come from?” he asked Jesus, but Jesus gave him no answer.

Он опять вошёл во дворец и спросил Ису:

– Откуда Ты?

Но Иса не отвечал ему.

“Do you refuse to speak to me?” Pilate said. “Don’t you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?”

– Ты что, отказываешься говорить со мной? – сказал Пилат. – Неужели Ты не понимаешь, что у меня есть власть освободить Тебя или распять!

Jesus answered, “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.”

Иса ответил:

– У тебя не было бы надо Мной никакой власти, если бы она не была дана тебе Всевышним. Поэтому на том, кто передал Меня тебе,^[c] больший грех.

From then on, Pilate tried to set Jesus free, but the Jewish leaders kept shouting, “If you let this man go, you are no friend of Caesar. Anyone who claims to be a king opposes Caesar.”

С этого момента Пилат искал возможности освободить Ису, но иудеи продолжали кричать:

– Если ты отпустишь Этого Человека, то ты не друг императору. Каждый, кто заявляет, что он царь, – враг императору!

When Pilate heard this, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judge’s seat at a place known as the Stone Pavement (which in Aramaic is Gabbatha).

Когда Пилат это услышал, он вывел Ису, сел в судейское кресло на месте, называемом Каменный Помост, а на арамейском языке Габта.

It was the day of Preparation of the Passover; it was about noon.

“Here is your king,” Pilate said to the Jews.

Это было на праздничной неделе, в пятницу, около двенадцати часов дня.

– Вот ваш царь, – сказал Пилат народу.

But they shouted, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!”

“Shall I crucify your king?” Pilate asked.

“We have no king but Caesar,” the chief priests answered.

Они закричали:

– Уведи Его вон! Вон! Распни Его!

– Распять вашего царя? – спросил Пилат.

– У нас нет царя, кроме императора, – отвечали главные священнослужители.

Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified.

The Crucifixion of Jesus

So the soldiers took charge of Jesus.

Тогда Пилат отдал им Ису на распятие.

Они взяли Ису и повели.

Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha).

Неся Свой крест, Иса пошёл на место, называемое Лобным^[d], а на арамейском языке «Голгофа».

There they crucified him, and with him two others—one on each side and Jesus in the middle.

Там Ису распяли, а с Ним, по обе стороны, ещё двоих; Иса был посередине.

Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: jesus of nazareth, the king of the jews.

Пилат приказал прикрепить на кресте табличку с надписью: ИСА ИЗ НАЗАРЕТА – ЦАРЬ ИУДЕЕВ.

Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek.

Надпись эту читало много иудеев, так как место распятия Исы было близко к городу, а написано было на языке иудеев^[e], по-латыни и по-гречески.

The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, “Do not write ‘The King of the Jews,’ but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews.”

Главные священнослужители иудеев возразили Пилату:

– Напиши не «Царь иудеев», а что Он заявлял, будто Он Царь иудеев.

Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”

– Что я написал, то написал, – ответил Пилат.

When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom.

Когда воины распяли Ису, они взяли Его верхнюю одежду и разделили на четыре части, каждому по одной. Рубашка Исы была без швов, сотканная целиком.

“Let’s not tear it,” they said to one another. “Let’s decide by lot who will get it.”

This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled that said,

So this is what the soldiers did.

– Не будем её рвать, – решили они, – бросим лучше жребий и посмотрим, кому она достанется.

Это случилось во исполнение сказанного в Писании:

Солдаты это исполнили.

Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

Недалеко от креста Исы стояли Его мать, сестра матери, Марьям – жена Клеопы и Марьям из Магдалы.

When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman,^[b] here is your son,”

Иса увидел Свою мать и Своего любимого ученика, стоявшего рядом с ней.

– О женщина^[g], прими его, как своего собственного сына, – сказал Иса матери.

and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.

The Death of Jesus

Своему же ученику Он сказал:

– Отныне считай её своей матерью.

С этого времени ученик этот взял её к себе в дом.

Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.”

После того Иса, зная, что всё уже совершилось, и чтобы исполнилось Писание, сказал:

– Хочу пить.

A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips.

Там стоял кувшин с кислым вином, и солдаты, обмакнув в него губку, надели её на стебель иссопа^[h] и поднесли к губам Исы.^[i]

When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Иса попробовал вино и сказал:

– Совершилось!

Сказав это, Он уронил голову на грудь и предал дух.

Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.

Была пятница, и предводители иудеев не хотели, чтобы тела оставались на крестах в субботу, тем более, что эта суббота была днём великого праздника. Поэтому они попросили Пилата перебить распятым голени^[j] и снять их тела с крестов.

The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then those of the other.

Солдаты пришли и перебили голени сначала одному распятому рядом с Исой, а затем другому.

But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs.

Когда же они подошли к Исе, то увидели, что Он уже мёртв, и не стали перебивать Его ног.

Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.

Вместо этого один из солдат пронзил копьём бок Исы, и из него сразу же потекли кровь и вода.

The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe.

Тот, кто сам это видел, свидетельствует об этом, чтобы и вы поверили. Его свидетельство истинно, и он знает, что говорит правду.

These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken,”^[c]

Всё это произошло, чтобы исполнились слова Писания: «Ни одна из Его костей не будет переломлена»^[k].

and, as another scripture says, “They will look on the one they have pierced.”^[d]

The Burial of Jesus

И в другом месте Писания говорится: «Они будут смотреть на Того, Которого пронзили»^[l].

Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders. With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away.

После этого Юсуф из Аримафеи попросил Пилата отдать ему тело Исы. Юсуф был учеником Исы, но тайным, из страха перед предводителями иудеев. С позволения Пилата он пришёл и забрал тело.

He was accompanied by Nicodemus, the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds.^[e]

С Юсуфом был Никодим, который как-то приходил к Исе ночью. Никодим принёс около тридцати килограммов^[m] смеси из смирны и алоэ^[n].

Taking Jesus’ body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen. This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs.

Они сняли тело Исы и завернули его в пропитанные душистыми мазями пелены из льняной ткани. Таков был иудейский погребальный обычай.

At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid.

Там, где Ису распяли, был сад, и в саду – новая могильная пещера, где ещё никого не хоронили.

Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

Так как это была пятница – день, когда иудеи готовятся к субботе, – а могильная пещера была рядом, то они положили там Ису.^[o]
