Job 37

“At this my heart pounds
    and leaps from its place.

От этого сердце моё трепещет
    и бросается с места прочь.

Listen! Listen to the roar of his voice,
    to the rumbling that comes from his mouth.

Слышите? Слышите гром Его голоса
    и грохот из уст Его?!

He unleashes his lightning beneath the whole heaven
    and sends it to the ends of the earth.

По всему поднебесью посылает Он молнии,
    посылает их до краёв земли.

After that comes the sound of his roar;
    he thunders with his majestic voice.
When his voice resounds,
    he holds nothing back.

Голос Его рокочет вослед;
    гласом величия Он гремит
и не сдерживает зарниц,
    когда голос Его услышан.

God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways;
    he does great things beyond our understanding.

Дивно грохочет Всевышний Своим голосом;
    Он творит великое – не постичь нам.

He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,’
    and to the rain shower, ‘Be a mighty downpour.’

Говорит Он снегу: «Пади на землю»,
    дождю и ливню: «Лейте сильнее!»

So that everyone he has made may know his work,
    he stops all people from their labor.^[a]

Он прекращает труды каждого человека,
    чтобы все люди знали дела Его.

The animals take cover;
    they remain in their dens.

И уходят звери в свои убежища
    и в берлогах своих лежат.

The tempest comes out from its chamber,
    the cold from the driving winds.

Из Его покоев приходит вихрь,
    и северный ветер приносит стужу.

The breath of God produces ice,
    and the broad waters become frozen.

Дыханием Всевышнего творится лёд,
    и твердеют вольные воды.

He loads the clouds with moisture;
    he scatters his lightning through them.

Наполняет Он тучи влагой
    и молнии мечет из облаков.

At his direction they swirl around
    over the face of the whole earth
    to do whatever he commands them.

Облака кружат по Его воле
    над лицом всей земли,
    совершая, что Он повелит.

He brings the clouds to punish people,
    or to water his earth and show his love.

То приходят, как бич, покарать людей,
    то, даруя им милость, насыщают землю.

“Listen to this, Job;
    stop and consider God’s wonders.

Выслушай это, Аюб;
    подумай, как чудны дела Всевышнего.

Do you know how God controls the clouds
    and makes his lightning flash?

Знаешь ли ты, как управляет тучами Всевышний,
    как блестит зарницей из облака Своего?

Do you know how the clouds hang poised,
    those wonders of him who has perfect knowledge?

Знаешь ли ты, как уравновешены облака,
    знаешь ли чудеса Того, Кто познанием совершенен?

You who swelter in your clothes
    when the land lies hushed under the south wind,

О ты, кому жарко в своей одежде,
    когда замолкнет земля перед южным ветром,

can you join him in spreading out the skies,
    hard as a mirror of cast bronze?

ты ли вместе с Ним распростёр небеса,
    твёрдые, словно литое зеркало?

“Tell us what we should say to him;
    we cannot draw up our case because of our darkness.

Научи нас, что нам Ему сказать;
    мы не знаем из-за своего невежества.

Should he be told that I want to speak?
    Would anyone ask to be swallowed up?

Сообщить ли Ему, что хочу с Ним говорить?
    Но кто себе желает смерти?

Now no one can look at the sun,
    bright as it is in the skies
    after the wind has swept them clean.

Никто не может взглянуть на солнце,
    когда оно блестит в небесах,
    после того, как расчистит их ветер.

Out of the north he comes in golden splendor;
    God comes in awesome majesty.

С севера идёт Всевышний в золотом сиянии,
    приближается в страшном великолепии.

The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power;
    in his justice and great righteousness, he does not oppress.

Всемогущий – мы не можем Его постичь;
    силой и правдой Он велик,
    праведностью богат, никого не угнетает.

Therefore, people revere him,
    for does he not have regard for all the wise in heart?^[b]”
