Job 27

“As surely as God lives, who has denied me justice,
    the Almighty, who has made my life bitter,

– Верно, как и то, что жив Всевышний, отказавший мне в справедливости,
    Всемогущий, наполнивший мою душу горечью, –

as long as I have life within me,
    the breath of God in my nostrils,

пока дышит во мне моя жизнь
    и дыхание Всевышнего в моих ноздрях,

my lips will not say anything wicked,
    and my tongue will not utter lies.

не скажут неправды мои уста,
    и язык мой обмана не произнесёт.

I will never admit you are in the right;
    till I die, I will not deny my integrity.

Никогда не признаю вас правыми;
    пока не умру, не оставлю своей непорочности.

I will maintain my innocence and never let go of it;
    my conscience will not reproach me as long as I live.

Я держусь за свою правоту и не отступлю от неё;
    не упрекнёт меня совесть моя, пока я жив.

“May my enemy be like the wicked,
    my adversary like the unjust!

Да сочтётся злодеем мой враг,
    противник мой – неправедным!

For what hope have the godless when they are cut off,
    when God takes away their life?

Ведь что за надежда у безбожника,
    когда приходит ему конец,
    когда Всевышний лишает его жизни?

Does God listen to their cry
    when distress comes upon them?

Разве услышит Всевышний его крик,
    когда придёт на него беда?

Will they find delight in the Almighty?
    Will they call on God at all times?

Разве станет он радоваться о Всемогущем
    и во всякое время к Всевышнему взывать?

“I will teach you about the power of God;
    the ways of the Almighty I will not conceal.

Я поведаю вам о великой силе Всевышнего
    и путей Всемогущего не утаю.

You have all seen this yourselves.
    Why then this meaningless talk?

Притом, вы и сами всё видели.
    Зачем же вы так пустословите?

“Here is the fate God allots to the wicked,
    the heritage a ruthless man receives from the Almighty:

Вот удел злодеям от Всевышнего,
    вот наследие, что примет гонитель от Всемогущего:

However many his children, their fate is the sword;
    his offspring will never have enough to eat.

пусть много у него детей – сгубит их меч,
    и его потомству не хватит пищи.

The plague will bury those who survive him,
    and their widows will not weep for them.

Мор похоронит оставшихся после него,
    и вдовы их не оплачут.

Though he heaps up silver like dust
    and clothes like piles of clay,

Пусть он наберёт серебра, как пыли,
    и приготовит одежды, как грязи,

what he lays up the righteous will wear,
    and the innocent will divide his silver.

что он приготовил, наденет праведник,
    и поделят невинные серебро.

The house he builds is like a moth’s cocoon,
    like a hut made by a watchman.

Дом, который Он строит, столь же непрочен,
    как и кокон моли, как и шалаш сторожа.

He lies down wealthy, but will do so no more;
    when he opens his eyes, all is gone.

Он уснёт богачом, но таким не встанет:
    откроет глаза, и нет ничего.

Terrors overtake him like a flood;
    a tempest snatches him away in the night.

Ужас настигнет его, как паводок;
    ночью прочь умчит его смерч.

The east wind carries him off, and he is gone;
    it sweeps him out of his place.

Палящий ветер его подхватит
    и с места его снесёт;

It hurls itself against him without mercy
    as he flees headlong from its power.

без жалости ринется на него,
    когда он побежит от него стремглав.

It claps its hands in derision
    and hisses him out of his place.”
