Jeremiah 7

This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord:

“Stand at the gate of the Lord’s house and there proclaim this message:

“‘Hear the word of the Lord, all you people of Judah who come through these gates to worship the Lord.

– Встань у ворот дома Вечного и провозгласи там эти слова: Слушай слово Вечного, весь народ Иудеи, идущий через эти ворота для поклонения Вечному.

This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Reform your ways and your actions, and I will let you live in this place.

Так говорит Вечный, Повелитель Сил, Бог Исраила: «Оставьте свои злые пути и дела, и Я позволю вам жить на этом месте.

Do not trust in deceptive words and say, “This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord!”

Не полагайтесь на лживые слова: „Здесь храм Вечного, храм Вечного, храм Вечного!“

If you really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly,

Если вы действительно оставите свои нечестивые мысли и дела и будете поступать друг с другом справедливо,

if you do not oppress the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm,

если не будете притеснять чужеземцев, сирот и вдов и проливать невинную кровь на этом месте, если себе же во вред не будете следовать за чужими богами,

then I will let you live in this place, in the land I gave your ancestors for ever and ever.

то Я позволю вам жить на этом месте, на земле, которую Я дал вашим предкам навеки.

But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are worthless.

Но вот, вы полагаетесь на лживые слова, в которых нет прока.

“‘Will you steal and murder, commit adultery and perjury,^[a] burn incense to Baal and follow other gods you have not known,

Вы крадёте и убиваете, нарушаете супружескую верность и лжесвидетельствуете, возжигаете благовония Баалу и следуете за чужими богами, которых прежде не знали,

and then come and stand before me in this house, which bears my Name, and say, “We are safe”—safe to do all these detestable things?

а потом приходите, встаёте предо Мной в этом доме, в котором Я пребываю, и говорите: „Мы спасены“ – лишь для того, чтобы вновь совершать все эти мерзости?

Has this house, which bears my Name, become a den of robbers to you? But I have been watching! declares the Lord.

Разве не превратили вы дом, в котором Я пребываю, в разбойничье логово? Но Я всё это вижу, – возвещает Вечный.

“‘Go now to the place in Shiloh where I first made a dwelling for my Name, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel.

Пойдите в Моё святилище в Шило, где Я прежде устроил дом для поклонения Мне, и посмотрите, что Я с ним сделал за злодеяния Моего народа Исраила.^[a]

While you were doing all these things, declares the Lord, I spoke to you again and again, but you did not listen; I called you, but you did not answer.

Пока вы предавались этим порокам, – возвещает Вечный, – Я снова и снова говорил с вами, а вы не слушали; Я звал вас, а вы не отвечали.

Therefore, what I did to Shiloh I will now do to the house that bears my Name, the temple you trust in, the place I gave to you and your ancestors.

То же, что Я сделал с Шило, Я сделаю и с домом, в котором пребываю, с храмом, на который вы полагаетесь, с местом, которое Я дал вам и вашим отцам.

I will thrust you from my presence, just as I did all your fellow Israelites, the people of Ephraim.’

Я отвергну вас от Себя, как отверг ваших братьев, народ Ефраима^[b]».

Непокорство народа

“So do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them; do not plead with me, for I will not listen to you.

– А ты не молись за этот народ, не проси за них в молитвах; не умоляй Меня, Я не стану тебя слушать.

Do you not see what they are doing in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

Разве ты не видишь, что они делают в городах Иудеи и на улицах Иерусалима?

The children gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough and make cakes to offer to the Queen of Heaven. They pour out drink offerings to other gods to arouse my anger.

Дети собирают дрова, отцы разводят огонь, а женщины месят тесто и пекут лепёшки для богини неба^[c]. Они совершают жертвенные возлияния чужим богам, чтобы разгневать Меня.

But am I the one they are provoking? declares the Lord. Are they not rather harming themselves, to their own shame?

Но Мне ли они делают хуже? – возвещает Вечный. – Нет, самим себе, к своему стыду!

“‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: My anger and my wrath will be poured out on this place—on man and beast, on the trees of the field and on the crops of your land—and it will burn and not be quenched.

Поэтому так говорит Владыка Вечный:

– Мой яростный гнев обрушится на эту землю, на людей и скот, на деревья в поле и на плоды земли, он будет пылать, не угасая.

“‘This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Go ahead, add your burnt offerings to your other sacrifices and eat the meat yourselves!

Так говорит Вечный, Повелитель Сил, Бог Исраила:

– Ваши жертвы не угодны Мне! Так что ешьте мясо жертв сами, даже то, которое нужно полностью сжечь.^[d]

For when I brought your ancestors out of Egypt and spoke to them, I did not just give them commands about burnt offerings and sacrifices,

Ведь когда Я вывел ваших предков из Египта, Я не просто говорил и давал им повеления о всесожжениях и жертвах,

but I gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in obedience to all I command you, that it may go well with you.

но и повелел им: «Слушайтесь Меня, и Я буду вашим Богом, а вы – Моим народом. Исполняйте то, что Я вам велю, и тогда вы будете благополучны».

But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts. They went backward and not forward.

Но они не послушали и не вняли Моим словам, и по своему упрямству жили по собственным замыслам, шли назад, а не вперёд.

From the time your ancestors left Egypt until now, day after day, again and again I sent you my servants the prophets.

С того дня, как ваши предки покинули Египет, и до этого дня, день за днём, снова и снова Я посылал к вам Моих рабов пророков.

But they did not listen to me or pay attention. They were stiff-necked and did more evil than their ancestors.’

Но вы не слушали и не внимали им. Вы были упрямыми и делали ещё больше зла, чем ваши предки.

“When you tell them all this, they will not listen to you; when you call to them, they will not answer.

Когда ты будешь говорить им всё это, они не станут тебя слушать, и когда будешь звать их, они не ответят.

Therefore say to them, ‘This is the nation that has not obeyed the Lord its God or responded to correction. Truth has perished; it has vanished from their lips.

Поэтому скажи им: «Вот народ, который не слушается Вечного, своего Бога, и не принимает наставлений. Истина погибла, она исчезла с их уст.

“‘Cut off your hair and throw it away; take up a lament on the barren heights, for the Lord has rejected and abandoned this generation that is under his wrath.

The Valley of Slaughter

Обрей свои волосы и выбрось; подними на голых вершинах плач, потому что Вечный отверг и покинул поколение, которое Его разгневало».

Долина Бойни

“‘The people of Judah have done evil in my eyes, declares the Lord. They have set up their detestable idols in the house that bears my Name and have defiled it.

– Народ Иудеи делал зло в Моих глазах, – возвещает Вечный. – Они поставили свои ничтожные идолы в доме, в котором Я пребываю, осквернив его.

They have built the high places of Topheth in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to burn their sons and daughters in the fire—something I did not command, nor did it enter my mind.

В долине Бен-Гинном они приготовили место для жертвоприношений, которое называется Тофет, чтобы сжигать там своих сыновей и дочерей, чего Я не повелевал, о чём даже не думал.

So beware, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when people will no longer call it Topheth or the Valley of Ben Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter, for they will bury the dead in Topheth until there is no more room.

Но теперь приближаются дни, – возвещает Вечный, – когда люди будут называть эту долину уже не Тофетом или долиной Бен-Гинном, а долиной Бойни, так как в Тофете будут хоронить мёртвых до тех пор, пока там не останется места.

Then the carcasses of this people will become food for the birds and the wild animals, and there will be no one to frighten them away.

Трупы этого народа станут пищей птицам в небе и зверям на земле, и некому будет их отпугнуть.

I will bring an end to the sounds of joy and gladness and to the voices of bride and bridegroom in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, for the land will become desolate.

Я положу конец крикам радости и веселья, не слышны будут в городах Иудеи и на улицах Иерусалима голоса невесты и жениха, потому что страна будет опустошена.
