Genesis 13

So Abram went up from Egypt to the Negev, with his wife and everything he had, and Lot went with him.

Ибрам с женой и всем имуществом отправился из Египта в Негев, и Лут пошёл с ним.

Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold.

У Ибрама теперь было много скота, серебра и золота.

From the Negev he went from place to place until he came to Bethel, to the place between Bethel and Ai where his tent had been earlier

Из Негева он продолжил путь, пока не пришёл в Вефиль, к тому месту, где некогда стоял его шатёр, между Вефилем и Гаем,

and where he had first built an altar. There Abram called on the name of the Lord.

к тому месту, где он прежде построил жертвенник. Там Ибрам призвал имя Вечного.

Now Lot, who was moving about with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents.

У Лута, который кочевал с Ибрамом, тоже были стада мелкого и крупного скота и шатры,

But the land could not support them while they stayed together, for their possessions were so great that they were not able to stay together.

и земля не могла прокормить их обоих: у них было так много всего, что они не могли селиться вместе.

And quarreling arose between Abram’s herders and Lot’s. The Canaanites and Perizzites were also living in the land at that time.

Между пастухами Ибрама и пастухами Лута случился раздор. (В той земле тогда жили хананеи и перизеи.)

So Abram said to Lot, “Let’s not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herders and mine, for we are close relatives.

Тогда Ибрам сказал Луту:

– Пусть не будет раздора ни между тобой и мной, ни между твоими пастухами и моими, потому что мы родственники.

Is not the whole land before you? Let’s part company. If you go to the left, I’ll go to the right; if you go to the right, I’ll go to the left.”

Не вся ли земля перед тобою? Давай разделимся: если ты пойдёшь налево, то я поверну направо, а если ты пойдёшь направо, то я поверну налево.

Lot looked around and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan toward Zoar was well watered, like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt. (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)

Лут посмотрел и увидел, что вся иорданская долина до самого Цоара хорошо орошается, как сад Вечного^[a], как земля египетская. (Это было ещё до того, как Вечный разрушил Содом и Гоморру.)

So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company:

Лут выбрал себе всю долину Иордана и отправился на восток. Они разделились:

Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom.

Ибрам жил в земле ханаанской, а Лут жил среди городов долины, поставив шатры невдалеке от Содома.

Now the people of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the Lord.

Жители Содома были нечестивы и тяжко грешили против Вечного.

The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west.

Вечный сказал Ибраму после того, как Лут отделился от него:

– Оглядись вокруг с того места, где ты сейчас; посмотри на север и на юг, на восток и на запад.

All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring^[a] forever.

Всю землю, которую ты видишь, Я дам тебе и твоему потомству^[b] навеки.

I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted.

Я сделаю твоё потомство многочисленным, как земную пыль, так что если кто сможет пересчитать пылинки, то и твоё потомство будет пересчитано.

Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.”

Иди, пройди по этой земле вдоль и поперёк, потому что Я дам её тебе.

So Abram went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he pitched his tents. There he built an altar to the Lord.

Ибрам свернул шатры и направился жить невдалеке от великих деревьев Мамре в Хевроне. Он построил там жертвенник Вечному.
