2 Samuel 5

All the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said, “We are your own flesh and blood.

In the past, while Saul was king over us, you were the one who led Israel on their military campaigns. And the Lord said to you, ‘You will shepherd my people Israel, and you will become their ruler.’”

When all the elders of Israel had come to King David at Hebron, the king made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel.

Когда все старейшины Исраила пришли к царю Давуду в Хеврон, он заключил с ними в Хевроне соглашение перед Вечным, и они помазали Давуда в цари над Исраилом.

David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned forty years.

Давуду было тридцать лет, когда он стал царём, и правил он сорок лет.

In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned over all Israel and Judah thirty-three years.

David Conquers Jerusalem

В Хевроне он правил Иудеей семь лет и шесть месяцев, а в Иерусалиме он правил всем Исраилом и Иудеей тридцать три года.

Давуд захватывает Иерусалим

The king and his men marched to Jerusalem to attack the Jebusites, who lived there. The Jebusites said to David, “You will not get in here; even the blind and the lame can ward you off.” They thought, “David cannot get in here.”

Царь со своими людьми пошёл на Иерусалим против живших там иевусеев. Иевусеи сказали Давуду:

– Ты не войдёшь сюда, тебя отгонят даже слепые и хромые.

Они думали: «Давуд не сможет войти сюда».

Nevertheless, David captured the fortress of Zion—which is the City of David.

Но Давуд захватил крепость Сион, что ныне Город Давуда.

On that day David had said, “Anyone who conquers the Jebusites will have to use the water shaft to reach those ‘lame and blind’ who are David’s enemies.^[a]” That is why they say, “The ‘blind and lame’ will not enter the palace.”

В тот день Давуд сказал:

– Пусть всякий, разящий иевусеев, проберётся к этим «хромым и слепым», которых ненавидит Давуд,^[a] через водопроводный туннель.

(Поэтому и говорится: «Слепой и хромой не войдут в дом».)

David then took up residence in the fortress and called it the City of David. He built up the area around it, from the terraces^[b] inward.

Давуд обосновался в крепости и назвал её Городом Давуда. Он обстроил её кругом от Милло^[b] и внутри.

And he became more and more powerful, because the Lord God Almighty was with him.

Давуд становился всё сильнее и сильнее, потому что с ним был Вечный, Бог Сил.

Now Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, along with cedar logs and carpenters and stonemasons, and they built a palace for David.

Хирам, царь Тира, отправил к Давуду послов, кедровые брёвна, а также плотников и каменщиков, которые построили Давуду дворец.

Then David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel and had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.

И Давуд понял, что Вечный утвердил его царём над Исраилом и вознёс его царство ради Своего народа Исраила.

After he left Hebron, David took more concubines and wives in Jerusalem, and more sons and daughters were born to him.

Покинув Хеврон, Давуд взял себе в Иерусалиме ещё наложниц и жён, и у него родились ещё сыновья и дочери.

These are the names of the children born to him there: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,

Вот имена детей, которые родились у него в Иерусалиме: Шаммуа, Шовав, Нафан, Сулейман,

Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia,

Ивхар, Элишуа, Нефег, Иафия,

Elishama, Eliada and Eliphelet.

David Defeats the Philistines

Элишама, Элиада и Элифелет.

Поражения филистимлян

When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over Israel, they went up in full force to search for him, but David heard about it and went down to the stronghold.

Услышав о том, что Давуд помазан в цари над Исраилом, все филистимляне отправились искать его, но Давуд узнал об этом и спустился в крепость.

Now the Philistines had come and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim;

Филистимляне пришли и расположились в долине Рефаим.

so David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hands?”

The Lord answered him, “Go, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your hands.”

И Давуд спросил Вечного:

– Идти ли мне на филистимлян? Отдашь ли Ты их мне?

Вечный ответил ему:

– Иди, Я непременно отдам филистимлян в твои руки.

So David went to Baal Perazim, and there he defeated them. He said, “As waters break out, the Lord has broken out against my enemies before me.” So that place was called Baal Perazim.^[c]

Давуд пошёл к Баал-Перациму и разбил их там. Он сказал:

– Как вода прорывает запруду, так и Вечный разбил моих врагов.

(Поэтому то место и было названо Баал-Перацим («господин прорыва»).)

The Philistines abandoned their idols there, and David and his men carried them off.

Филистимляне бросили там своих идолов, а Давуд и его люди унесли их.

Once more the Philistines came up and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim;

И снова филистимляне пришли и расположились в долине Рефаим.

so David inquired of the Lord, and he answered, “Do not go straight up, but circle around behind them and attack them in front of the poplar trees.

Давуд спросил Вечного, и Тот ответил:

– Не нападай на них отсюда, но обойди их с тыла и напади на них со стороны бальзамовых деревьев.

As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the poplar trees, move quickly, because that will mean the Lord has gone out in front of you to strike the Philistine army.”

Как только ты услышишь в вершинах бальзамовых деревьев шум, как от шагов, тотчас же выступай – это будет значить, что Вечный пошёл перед тобой, чтобы разбить войско филистимлян.

So David did as the Lord commanded him, and he struck down the Philistines all the way from Gibeon^[d] to Gezer.

Давуд сделал так, как повелел ему Вечный, и разил филистимлян всю дорогу от Гаваона до Гезера.
