Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession of it; for we will certainly conquer it.”

And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

Caleb interrupted, called for silence before Moses and said, “Let’s go up and take the land—now. We can do it.” 31-33 But the others said, “We can’t attack those people; they’re way stronger than we are.” They spread scary rumors among the People of Israel. They said, “We scouted out the land from one end to the other—it’s a land that swallows people whole. Everybody we saw was huge. Why, we even saw the Nephilim giants (the Anak giants come from the Nephilim). Alongside them we felt like grasshoppers. And they looked down on us as if we were grasshoppers.”

Then Caleb quieted the people [n]before Moses and said, “We should by all means go up and take possession of it, for we will surely overcome it.”

Then Caleb interrupted the men speaking to Moses. He said, “We should go up and take the land. We can certainly do it.”

But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!”

وَلَكِنَّ كَالَبَ هَدَّأَ رَوْعَ الشَّعْبِ الْمَاثِلِ أَمَامَ مُوسَى وَقَالَ: «لِنَمْضِ وَنَمْتَلِكِ الأَرْضَ لأَنَّنَا قَادِرُونَ حَقّاً عَلَى ذَلِكَ».

Efter den rapport begyndt folket straks at beklage sig over for Moses. Men Kaleb kaldte forsamlingen til ro og orden. „Lad os komme af sted! Vi kan helt afgjort indtage landet,” sagde han. 31-33 „Det er lettere sagt end gjort,” indvendte de andre spioner. „Glem ikke, at vi her står over for nogle uhyre stærke krigere—selveste Anaks efterkommere. De er kæmper, og vi har ikke en chance imod dem. Da vi så dem, følte vi os på størrelse med græshopper—og sådan ser de nok også på os.” På den måde tog de modet fra folket.

Toen kwam het volk in opstand tegen Mozes. Maar Kaleb trachtte het te kalmeren en zei: ‘Laten wij nu meteen optrekken en het land in bezit nemen, want wij zijn sterk genoeg om het te veroveren!’

Então Calebe fez o povo calar-se perante Moisés e disse: “Subamos e tomemos posse da terra. É certo que venceremos!”

Então Calebe tratou de tranquilizar o povo enquanto estavam todos ainda na presença de Moisés: “Vamos e tomemos imediatamente posse da terra, com toda a confiança, porque seremos bem capazes de a conquistar!”
