Nehemiah 9:24

“So their sons (descendants) went in and took possession of the land;And You subdued before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites,And You gave them into their hand, with their kings and the peoples of the land,To do with them as they pleased.

So the children went in and possessed the land, and thou subduedst before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gavest them into their hands, with their kings, and the people of the land, that they might do with them as they would.

Their children went into the land. They took it as their own. You brought the Canaanites under Israel’s control. The Canaanites lived in the land. But you handed them over to Israel. You also handed over their kings and the other nations in the land to Israel. You allowed Israel to deal with them just as they wanted to.

“They went in and took possession of the land. You subdued whole nations before them. Even the Canaanites, who inhabited the land, were powerless! Your people could deal with these nations and their kings as they pleased.

فَاسْتَوْلَى عَلَيْهَا الأَبْنَاءُ وَوَرِثُوا الأَرْضَ بَعْدَ أَنْ أَخْضَعْتَ لَهُمْ سُكَّانَهَا الْكَنْعَانِيِّينَ، وَأَسْلَمْتَهُمْ لَهُمْ مَعَ مُلُوكِهِمْ وَأُمَمِ الْبِلادِ لِيَصْنَعُوا بِهِمْ حَسَبَ مَا يَطِيبُ لَهُمْ.

Deres børn kom og indtog landet. Du overgav kana’anæerne til dem,så de kunne gøre, hvad de ville, med både konger og folkeslag.

Sie eroberten es und ließen sich dort nieder. Die Bewohner von Kanaan mussten sich ihnen unterwerfen; die Herrscher und das Volk gabst du in ihre Gewalt, sie mussten sich ihrem Willen beugen.
