Nehemiah 6:1

Now when Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab, and the rest of our enemies heard that I had rebuilt the wall, and that there was no breach left in it, although at that time I had not set up doors in the gates,

1-2 When Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab, and the rest of our enemies heard that I had rebuilt the wall and that there were no more breaks in it—even though I hadn’t yet installed the gates— Sanballat and Geshem sent this message: “Come and meet with us at Kephirim in the valley of Ono.” 2-3 I knew they were scheming to hurt me so I sent messengers back with this: “I’m doing a great work; I can’t come down. Why should the work come to a standstill just so I can come down to see you?”

Now when it was reported to Sanballat, Tobiah, to Geshem the Arab and to the rest of our enemies that I had rebuilt the wall, and that no breach remained in it, although at that time I had not set up the doors in the gates,

Sanballat, Tobiah and Geshem, the Arab, heard about what I had done. So did the rest of our enemies. All of them heard I had rebuilt the wall. In fact, they heard there weren’t any gaps left in it. But up to that time I hadn’t put up the gates at the main entrances to the city.

وَعِنْدَمَا عَلِمَ سَنْبَلَّطُ وَطُوبِيَّا وَجَشَمٌ الْعَرَبِيُّ وَسَائِرُ أَعْدَائِنَا أَنِّي قَدِ اسْتَكْمَلْتُ بِنَاءَ السُّورِ، وَلَمْ تَبْقَ فِيهِ ثُغْرَةٌ، وَإِنْ لَمْ أَكُنْ حَتَّى هَذَا الْوَقْتِ قَدْ نَصَبْتُ مَصَارِيعَ الأَبْوَابِ،

城壁工事は余すところ、門の扉を取りつけるだけとなりました。サヌバラテ、トビヤ、アラブ人ゲシェムをはじめとする敵どもは、工事もほぼ完成したと聞くと、
