Nehemiah 11:1

Now the leaders of the people lived in Jerusalem; but the rest of the people cast lots to bring one [person] out of ten to live in Jerusalem, the holy city, while nine-tenths remained in the other cities.

And the rulers of the people dwelt at Jerusalem: the rest of the people also cast lots, to bring one of ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts to dwell in other cities.

1-2 The leaders of the people were already living in Jerusalem, so the rest of the people drew lots to get one out of ten to move to Jerusalem, the holy city, while the other nine remained in their towns. The people applauded those who voluntarily offered to live in Jerusalem.

وَسَكَنَ رُؤَسَاءُ الشَّعْبِ فِي أُورُشَلِيمَ. وَأَلْقَى سَائِرُ الشَّعْبِ الْقُرْعَةَ لِيَخْتَارُوا وَاحِداً مِنْ بَيْنِ كُلِّ عَشَرَةٍ لِيُقِيمَ فِي أُورُشَلِيمَ مَدِينَةِ الْقُدْسِ بَيْنَمَا يَتَوَزَّعُ التِّسْعَةُ الأَعْشَارِ الْبَاقُونَ عَلَى الْمُدُنِ.

En stor del af folkets ledere havde nu bosat sig i Jerusalem, den hellige by. Desuden udvalgte man ved lodtrækning en tiendedel af folket i byerne ude omkring i Juda og i Benjamins land og flyttede dem til Jerusalem.

De leiders van het volk hadden zich al op een vroeger tijdstip in Jeruzalem gevestigd. Via een loting werd nu een tiende deel van het volk uit de andere steden en dorpen van Juda en Benjamin aangewezen om er óók te gaan wonen.

Folkets ledare bosatte sig i Jerusalem, och det övriga folket kastade lott så att var tionde familj fick bosätta sig i Jerusalem, den heliga staden, medan de övriga nio fick bosätta sig i andra städer.
