Joshua 9:24

They replied to Joshua and said, “Because your servants were told in no uncertain terms that the Lord your God commanded His servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the land’s inhabitants before you, we feared greatly for our lives because of you, and so we did this [deceptive] thing.

And they answered Joshua, and said, Because it was certainly told thy servants, how that the Lord thy God commanded his servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you, therefore we were sore afraid of our lives because of you, and have done this thing.

So they answered Joshua and said, “Because it was certainly told your servants that the Lord your God had commanded His servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land before you; therefore we feared greatly for our lives because of you, and have done this thing.

They answered Joshua, “We were clearly told what the Lord your God had commanded his servant Moses to do. He commanded him to give you the whole land. He also ordered him to wipe out all its people to make room for you. So we were afraid you would kill us. That’s why we tricked you.

فَأَجَابُوا يَشُوعَ قَائِلِينَ: «لَقَدْ بَلَغَ عَبِيدَكَ أَخْبَارُ مَا وَعَدَ بِهِ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكَ مُوسَى عَبْدَهُ، أَنْ يَهَبَكُمْ كُلَّ الأَرْضِ وَيُهْلِكَ جَمِيعَ سُكَّانِهَا مِنْ أَمَامِكُمْ، فَخَشِينَا جِدّاً عَلَى أَنْفُسِنَا مِنْكُمْ، فَتَوَسَّلْنَا بِالْحِيلَةِ.

„Vi gjorde det, fordi vi hørte, at Herren, din Gud, havde givet sin tjener Moses befaling om at erobre hele landet og udslette befolkningen,” svarede de. „Vi var bange for, at I ville slå os ihjel.

그러자 그들은 여호수아에게 이렇게 대답하였다. “당신의 하나님 여호와께서 그의 종 모세에게 이 땅을 모두 당신들에게 주고 또 이 곳 백성을 다 죽이라고 명령하신 것이 사실임을 우리는 알게 되었습니다. 우리가 이렇게 한 것은 당신들을 두려워하여 우리 생명에 위협을 느꼈기 때문입니다.
