Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said to the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the sons of Manasseh, “Today we know that the Lord is among us, because you have not committed this unfaithful act against the Lord; indeed you have saved Israel from the hand of the Lord.”

And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the children of Manasseh, This day we perceive that the Lord is among us, because ye have not committed this trespass against the Lord: now ye have delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of the Lord.

Priest Phinehas son of Eleazar said to Reuben, Gad, and Manasseh, “Now we’re convinced that God is present with us since you haven’t been disloyal to God in this matter. You saved the People of Israel from God’s discipline.” 32-33 Then Priest Phinehas son of Eleazar left the Reubenites, Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh (from Gilead) and, with the chiefs, returned to the land of Canaan to the People of Israel and gave a full report. They were pleased with the report. The People of Israel blessed God—there was no more talk of attacking and destroying the land in which the Reubenites and Gadites were living.

And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said to the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Manasseh, “Today we know that the Lord is in our midst, because you have not committed this unfaithful act against the Lord; now you have delivered the sons of Israel from the hand of the Lord.”

Phinehas the priest spoke to the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Manasseh. Phinehas was the son of Eleazar. He said, “Today we know that the Lord is with us. That’s because you have been faithful to him in this matter. Now you have saved the Israelites from the Lord’s anger against them.”

فَقَالَ فِينْحَاسُ بْنُ أَلِعَازَارَ الْكَاهِنُ لَهُمْ: «الْيَوْمَ عَرَفْنَا أَنَّ الرَّبَّ بَيْنَنَا، لأَنَّكُمْ لَمْ تَرْتَكِبُوا هَذِهِ الْخِيَانَةَ بِحَقِّهِ، وَبِذَلِكَ أَنْقَذْتُمْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنْ عِقَابِ الرَّبِّ».

„I dag står det klart,” sagde Pinehas, „at Herren stadig er med os, for I har ikke syndet imod ham, sådan som vi troede. Tværtimod har I reddet os fra at begå en stor fejl og blive straffet af Herren.”
