Joshua 17:16

The sons of Joseph said, “The hill country is not enough for us, and all the Canaanites who live in the valley have iron chariots, both those who are in Beth-shean and its towns and those in the Valley of Jezreel.”

And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Bethshean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.

But the people of Joseph said, “There’s not enough hill country for us; and the Canaanites who live down in the plain, both those in Beth Shan and its villages and in the Valley of Jezreel, have iron chariots.” 17-18 Joshua said to the family of Joseph (to Ephraim and Manasseh): “Yes, there are a lot of you, and you are very strong. One lot is not enough for you. You also get the hill country. It’s nothing but trees now, but you will clear the land and make it your own from one end to the other. The powerful Canaanites, even with their iron chariots, won’t stand a chance against you.”

The sons of Joseph said, “The hill country is not enough for us, and all the Canaanites who live in the valley land have chariots of iron, both those who are in Beth-shean and its towns and those who are in the valley of Jezreel.”

The people in Joseph’s family line replied, “The hill country isn’t big enough for us. And all the Canaanites who live in the plains use chariots that have iron parts. They include the people of Beth Shan and its settlements. They also include the people who live in the Valley of Jezreel.”

The people of Joseph replied, “The hill country is not enough for us, and all the Canaanites who live in the plain have chariots fitted with iron, both those in Beth Shan and its settlements and those in the Valley of Jezreel.”

The descendants of Joseph responded, “It’s true that the hill country is not large enough for us. But all the Canaanites in the lowlands have iron chariots, both those in Beth-shan and its surrounding settlements and those in the valley of Jezreel. They are too strong for us.”

فَقَالَ بَنُو يُوسُفَ: «إِنَّ الأَرَاضِي الْجَبَلِيَّةَ لَا تَكْفِينَا، وَالْكَنْعَانِيُّونَ الْقَاطِنُونَ فِي السُّهُولِ فِي بَيْتِ شَانَ وَقُرَاهَا، وَفِي وَادِي يِزْرَعِيلَ يَمْلِكُونَ مَرْكَبَاتٍ حَدِيدِيَّةً».

„Nej, højlandet er ikke stort nok til os,” sagde Josefs efterkommere, „men kana’anæerne i lavlandet omkring Bet-Shan og i Jizre’eldalen kan vi ikke drive væk, for de har jernvogne.” 17-18 „Tag bare skovområdet på bjergskråningerne,” svarede Josva. „I er en stor og stærk stamme, så det skal nok lykkes for jer. E visto que são numerosos e robustos serão certamente capazes de derrubar todas essas florestas para viver ali. Tenho a certeza que poderão também expulsar os cananeus dos vales, mesmo sendo eles valentes combatentes e tendo carros em ferro.”

”Bergsbygden räcker inte till för oss”, sa Josefs stammar, ”och kanaanéerna på slätten runt Bet-Shean med dess lydstäder och i Jisreels dal har stridsvagnar av järn.”
