Hosea 12:1

Ephraim feeds on the [emptiness of the] windAnd [continually] pursues the [parching] east wind [which brings destruction];Every day he multiplies lies and violence.Further, he makes a covenant with AssyriaAnd (olive) oil is carried to Egypt [to seek alliances].

Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.

1-5 Ephraim, obsessed with god-fantasies, chases ghosts and phantoms.He tells lies nonstop, soul-destroying lies.Both Ephraim and Judah made deals with Assyria and tried to get an inside track with Egypt.God is bringing charges against Israel. Jacob’s children are hauled into court to be punished.In the womb, that heel, Jacob, got the best of his brother. When he grew up, he tried to get the best of God.But God would not be bested. God bested him.Brought to his knees, Jacob wept and prayed.God found him at Bethel. That’s where he spoke with him.God is God-of-the-Angel-Armies, God-Revealed, God-Known.

The people of Ephraim look to others for help. It’s like chasing the wind.The wind they keep chasing is hot and dry.They tell more and more lies. They are always hurting others.They make a peace treaty with Assyria. They send olive oil to Egypt to get help.

يَرْعَى أَفْرَايِمُ الرِّيحَ، وَيُطَارِدُ الرِّيحَ الشَّرْقِيَّةَ طَوَالَ الْيَوْمِ، وَيَرْتَكِبُ الأَكَاذِيبَ وَالْجَوْرَ بِكَثْرَةٍ، وَيُبْرِمُ عَهْداً مَعَ أَشُّورَ، وَيَبْعَثُ بِزَيْتِ الزَّيْتُونِ إِلَى مِصْرَ.

Herren siger: „Efraim lyver og bedrager. Juda flakker om uden at forstå min trofasthed.

Der Herr sagt: »Die Israeliten belügen und betrügen mich fortwährend; und die Bewohner von Juda sind mir, ihrem heiligen Gott, immer noch untreu, obwohl ich ihnen stets treu geblieben bin!«

“Ang mga taga-Israel[a] nagasalig sa mga butang nga wala sing pulos. Ang ginalagas nila sa bilog nga adlaw amo ang mga butang nga makahalit sa ila. Nagadugang ang ila pagbinutig kag pagpamintas. Nagahimo sila sang kasugtanan sa Asiria kag sa Egipto, amo gani nga nagadala sila sang lana sa Egipto bilang regalo.”

イスラエルは風を追い、つむじ風の番をしています。全く危険な遊びです。エジプトやアッシリヤに贈り物をし、援助を求めますが、そのお返しは価値のない約束です。

이스라엘 백성이 행하는 모든 것은 바람을 좇는 것처럼 무익하고 파괴 적이다. 그들은 거짓과 폭력을 일삼고 앗시리아와 조약을 맺으며 감람유를 이집트에 보내고 있다.

‘Israël heeft Mij omringd met leugens en Mij bedrogen. Maar Juda heeft nog een band met Mij en blijft Mij, de Heilige, nog trouw.

Efraim jagar efter vind, strävar efter östanvind dagen lång och ökar lögn och våld. De sluter förbund med Assyrien och sänder olja till Egypten.

เอฟราอิมเลี้ยงชีพด้วยลมเขาติดตามลมตะวันออกทั้งวันเขาทวีการโกหกและความอำมหิตเขาทำสัญญากับอัสซีเรียและส่งน้ำมันมะกอกไปยังอียิปต์

“以法莲以风为食，整天追逐东风，虚谎和暴力日益增多；他跟亚述结盟，向埃及进贡橄榄油。”

以 法 莲 吃 风 ， 且 追 赶 东 风 ， 时 常 增 添 虚 谎 和 强 暴 ， 与 亚 述 立 约 ， 把 油 送 到 埃 及 。

「以法蓮以風為食，整天追逐東風，虛謊和暴力日益增多；他跟亞述結盟，向埃及進貢橄欖油。」
