Exodus 20:5

You shall not worship them nor serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous (impassioned) God [[a]demanding what is rightfully and uniquely mine], visiting (avenging) the iniquity (sin, guilt) of the fathers on the children [that is, calling the children to account for the sins of their fathers], to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,

Do not bow down to them or worship them. I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God. I cause the sins of the parents to affect their children. I will cause the sins of those who hate me to affect even their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me.

لَا تَسْجُدْ لَهُنَّ وَلا تَعْبُدْهُنَّ، لأَنِّي أَنَا الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكَ، إِلَهٌ غَيُورٌ، أَفْتَقِدُ آثَامَ الآبَاءِ فِي البَنِينَ حَتَّى الْجِيلِ الثَّالِثِ وَالرَّابِعِ مِنْ مُبْغِضِيَّ،

Du må ikke bøje dig for et afgudsbillede eller tilbede det, for jeg er Herren, din Gud, og jeg vil ikke dele din hengivenhed med nogen anden gud. Jeg undlader ikke at straffe dem, der hader mig, så det kan mærkes indtil tredje eller fjerde slægtled.

Wirf dich nicht vor solchen Götterfiguren nieder, bring ihnen keine Opfer dar! Denn ich bin der Herr, dein Gott. Ich dulde keinen neben mir! Wer mich verachtet, den werde ich bestrafen. Sogar seine Kinder, Enkel und Urenkel werden die Folgen spüren!

それらを拝んでもならない。どのような方法で礼拝してもならない。あなたの神はこのわたしだけである。わたしはねたみ深いから、わたしとほかの神を同時に愛することは許さない。わたしの罰は、わたしを憎む者の子ども、孫、ひ孫までも及ぶ。
