Exodus 13:17

So it happened, when Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, even though it was nearer; for God said, “The people might change their minds when they see war [that is, that there will be war], and return to Egypt.”

And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:

It so happened that after Pharaoh released the people, God didn’t lead them by the road through the land of the Philistines, which was the shortest route, for God thought, “If the people encounter war, they’ll change their minds and go back to Egypt.”

바로가 백성들을 보냈을 때 하나님은 블레셋 사람의 땅을 거쳐가는 것이 가까운데도 그들을 그 길로 인도하지 않으셨다. 이것은 그들이 전쟁을 보면 마음이 변해 이집트로 되돌아갈 것이라고 생각하셨기 때문이었다.

När farao slutligen släppte folket, förde Gud dem inte genom filistéernas land trots att detta hade varit genaste vägen. Gud tänkte att folket kunde ändra sig om ett krig skulle hota och vilja vända tillbaka till Egypten.
