For they covered the [visible] surface of the land, so that the ground was darkened; and they ate every plant of the land and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left. There remained not a green thing on the trees or the plants of the field throughout all the land of Egypt.

いなごが全地を覆ったので、太陽の光もさえぎられて薄暗くなりました。雹の害を免れた作物は全部いなごに食べられてしまいました。エジプト中の木や草が食い尽くされ、緑のものは何一つ残りませんでした。

Gräshopporna täckte hela landet, marken var alldeles svart, och de åt upp all växtlighet och all frukt på träden som fanns kvar efter haglet. De lämnade inget grönt kvar, varken på träden eller på marken någonstans i hela Egypten.
