Ecclesiastes 8:10

So then, I have seen the wicked buried, those who used to go in and out of the holy place [but did not thereby escape their doom], and they are [praised in spite of their evil and] soon forgotten in the city where they did such things. This too is futility (vanity, emptiness).

And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: this is also vanity.

One time I saw wicked men given a solemn burial in holy ground. When the people returned to the city, they delivered flowery eulogies—and in the very place where wicked acts were done by those very men! More smoke. Indeed.

So then, I have seen the wicked buried, those who used to go in and out from the holy place, and they are soon forgotten in the city where they did thus. This too is futility.

I also saw sinful people being buried. They used to come and go from the place of worship. And others praised them in the city where they worshiped. That doesn’t have any meaning either.

I have seen wicked people buried with honor. Yet they were the very ones who frequented the Temple and are now praised[a] in the same city where they committed their crimes! This, too, is meaningless.

ثُمَّ رَأَيْتُ الأَشْرَارَ مِمَّنْ كَانُوا يَرُوحُونَ وَيَجِيئُونَ إِلَى الْمَكَانِ الْمُقَدَّسِ، يُدْفَنُونَ وَقَدْ كِيلَتْ لَهُمْ هَالاتُ الْمَديِحِ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ الَّتِي ارْتَكَبُوا فِيهَا هَذِهِ الأُمُورَ. وَهَذَا أَيْضاً بَاطِلٌ.

Jeg har set onde mennesker færdes hjemmevant i helligdommen og blive rost ude i byen til trods for al deres ondskab. Ja, selv ved deres begravelse blev de rost til skyerne. Hvor meningsløst!

Ich habe gesehen, wie Menschen, die von Gott nichts wissen wollten, in Ehren begraben wurden, während man andere, die Gott gehorchten, aus der Nähe des Heiligtums vertrieb und sie vergaß in der Stadt. Das ist doch unsinnig!

Or j’ai vu des méchants être enterrés : les gens allaient et venaient du sanctuaire, et ils les louaient dans la ville pour[f] ce qu’ils avaient fait. Cela aussi est déplorable.

악인은 죽어 무덤에 묻히고 그를 묻고 돌아오는 길에 사람들은 죽은 자의 악을 다 잊어버리며 죽은 자는 자기들이 범죄하던 바로 그 도시에서 칭찬을 받으니 이것도 헛된 것이다.

Ik heb gezien hoe goddeloze mensen eervol werden begraven, terwijl rechtvaardige mensen de heilige stad Jeruzalem moesten verlaten en vergeten werden. Ook dat is zinloos.

Jag har sett onda människor bli begravda, de som brukade komma och gå på den heliga platsen, och som sedan prisades i staden där de gjorde detta.[b] Även detta är meningslöst.

และข้าพเจ้าก็เห็นบรรดาคนชั่วร้ายถูกฝัง ผู้ซึ่งเข้าออกในสถานบริสุทธิ์และได้รับการยกย่อง[c]ในนครซึ่งเขาทำชั่วนั่นแหละ นี่ก็อนิจจัง

我看见恶人生前出入圣所，死后安葬，还在他们作恶的城中受到称赞，这也是虚空。

我 见 恶 人 埋 葬 ， 归 入 坟 墓 ； 又 见 行 正 直 事 的 离 开 圣 地 ， 在 城 中 被 人 忘 记 。 这 也 是 虚 空 。

我看見惡人生前出入聖所，死後安葬，還在他們作惡的城中受到稱讚，這也是虛空。
